Subject: Consecutive Promotions

How often do they happen ? I think I can remember one with Kevin Keegan at Man City, and maybe Martin O Neill did it with Wycombe Wanderers. Don't suppose anyone would know how to find a page with a list of them ? I tried googling it, but no dice.

I think they did too. Back in the 80s ?

Peterborough I think did it a couple of seasons ago?

Deportivo in the spanish league got premoted then won la liga if that counts, in 2002 i think..

Bloody ell, that's quite an acheivement ! Didn't know that.

Think there's been quite a few that have promoted from league 2 and then league 1 consecutively recently. Southend 04-05 and 05-06, pboro 07-08 and 08-09.

Norwich, leeds, bournemouth can all do it this season, oh and the mighty boston ;)

Exeter? im sure they were in the conference 2 years ago..

I think a fair few sides have promoted twice once going up from the conference.

You could argue that this suggests that there needs to be proper promotion and relegation of 3 teams, making the conference a proper 5th league.

After doing some research and finding some excellently pointless information, apparently Blyth Spartans formed in 1899 have never been relegated and are the only team in England to do so.

I think both Halifax and Macclesfield managed double promotions from Conference to league 1, Wolves managed to go from Division 4 to 2(That's league 2 to Championship if you don't know) and Man City did get a double promotion after I believe a double relegation.

no, they got playoffs last season coming in 3rd and lost to blackpool ;)

I believe Wrexham and Wimbledon came all the way up from the 4th to the first on the trot but could be wrong seeing my memory isn't as sharp as it used to be.
