What royal wedding?
I hadn't seen anything in the 'papers or on the television...

i was outside Buckingham when they went on the balcony, but because of that divvy massive statue i could only see the queen and phil... I think. Sent a shiver down my spine when everyone who could see started cheering and waving their flags.
the "divvy massive statue" being the memorial to Queen Victoria then.
Certainly the greatest monarch the UK has had and possibly the most successful on Earth, in charge of the widest reaching empire the world has ever known and firmly placing the Brits at the head of technology, innovation, engineering, business and adventure and well worthy of a "divvy massive statue"

it wasnt in reference to the statue itself or what it represents at all, just the placement of it. But then again, its not that often that the mall is packed like that for anyone to be effected by it.
surely it was the placement of you that was the problem?
i went where the police told me to go. But yeah, it was. Great view of the flyovers though
What is the general attitued of the British towards the 'monarchy' nowadays? In different society classes if possible...
I bet there was something in the newspapers lately but I've got some spending and couldn't sacrifice partying to buy an English newspaper :p and haven't seen anything on the subject @web.

Ambivalent I think.
There are some that think they are great and wave flags and turn up to weddings for no apparent reason...
There are some that complain about them costing money and that hereditary power is an outmoded form of government (even though I am certain the Queen could do a much better job than Cameron!)
And then there are those like me that couldn't give a flying Prince Phillip about any of it really as it has naff all to do with me or my life.
I quite like the massed bands of the Guardsmen though...

As I expected then. I'm asking because I've seen some footage on this subject in Polish tv some time ago and well...everyone asked was nearly exploding with joy of having monarchy, seemed quite unlikely..;)
Also, what was the general opinion about Brown and Blair not being invited to the wedding? I can see why Brown wasn't invited, who'd want him at his or her wedding ;) but Blair? That was something unexcpected to say the least. As far as I remember he wasn't exactly the agreable type of PM but still...

I think it is because Blair is slightly more unpopular than gonorrhoea.
Ah, just like one of Polish presidents...till he died in an accident.
Oh, the people, in most cases, still aren't really Lech Kaczynski's fans, not at all. The media changed their attitude towards him though since the accident. I don't know much about typical British tv channels, but believe me - Kaczynski was at times the most laughed-at person in the country, as a president. He had a number of beautiful linguistic etc. mistakes, to be fair he was better than Bush was.
For example he was visiting some police or military facility and talked with a guy with trained dog. The dog was named Ira. The owner said: Ira, siad! [Ira, sit!]. Our beloved president said: Irasiad[Irasit] is quite nervous today, isn't he?
He won't beat his brother though, who once said: "No woman and no man shall convince me, that black is black and white is white!". It was quite true though, unfortunately.

it is good to see that politicians around the world are at least consistant.
