Subject: Battrick

I've just started battrick and wondered if anyone here plays and can give me a few tips of what to do. I've already gone into the transfer market to try and get a team of players who have at least mediocre in their main skill and feeble in stamina and one out of concentration and consistency.
I have played right since the start, but don't take it too seriously.
Chat with Woppa about it.

I'm in the same league as Mr Forestman (not sure how long for though) and started 2nd season. I find the game ok but not much more than that. I think there is a lot of room for improvement.
I got lucky when I pulled a 17yr old in my first week, he is now 18 and quality batting and quality concentration. He gubbs all the other teams in my league. I should win it next season when I buy 1 new batsmen
I'm annoyed because when I first played I had a competent/proficient/competent batter/bowler/fielder and I gave up. Now I have two mediocre bowlers, 1 mediocre batter and 2 competent batters.
EdWeatherall plays and so do I. Our training tactics a re broadly similar and revolve around training a new 17yo every season (or nearly every season). You then train the guy for three or four seasons with 3 or 4 nets* and he's dead good. So once you get this training system set up, you'll have one trainee with 4 nets on him and two with three nets on him. You'll also have a 17yo, 18yo and 19yo being trained.
*Something like one fielding, one stamina and one primary for three nets (two primaries for four). As their stamina reaches superb, you can change those stamina nets for primary nets and juggle them around if you need to.

I think I'll get to the end of the season and then do something like that. I currently have 2 bowlers nets, 2 batters, 2 wicket keeepers (same guy) and 4 stamina for the 4 I'm training.
I do three guys over 4 seasons instead of a new one every season. This way, I can train the guy when he is 20, too. I think at the moment two or three players head and shoulders above the others in your team can make a massive difference. I've got one great bowler and two decent batsmen, and they've won me plenty of games on their own in the last season or two.
I'm trying to buy a competent bowler atm just to bulk up my attack a bit. When I started had such bad players that I would have needed to play a woeful bowler.
Patrick Lepolesa - 19 yo, BT Rating=55,138
RH Batsman, RFM Bowler, superb batting form, superb bowling form, sublime
An attacking player with strong leadership skills and feeble experience.
Stamina: strong Wicket Keeping: abysmal
Batting: quality Concentration: quality
Bowling: woeful Consistency: superb
Fielding: superb
Denis Walters - 18 yo, BT Rating=36,011
RH Batsman, RFM Bowler, superb batting form, proficient bowling form, lively
A cautious player with competent leadership skills and worthless experience.
Stamina: respectable Wicket Keeping: strong
Batting: proficient Concentration: strong
Bowling: abysmal Consistency: competent
Fielding: superb
Wayne Groves - 17 yo, BT Rating=12,414
LH Batsman, LM Bowler, superb batting form, superb bowling form, fresh
A steady player with abysmal leadership skills and woeful experience.
Stamina: respectable Wicket Keeping: worthless
Batting: woeful Concentration: abysmal
Bowling: proficient Consistency: respectable
Fielding: competent
These are my three trainees at the moment. Next season is Lepolesa's last season of training. Before that, though his stamina net will be freed up. So I might stick an extra bowling net on Groves. Currently, Lepolesa gets one stamina, one fielding and one batting. Walters gets the same plus one WK (making him the four net man) and Groves gets one stamina, one bowling and one fielding.
As you can see with Lepolesa, they turn out quite tasty before they turn 20.

Nothing special. Nothing special at all. Groves was probably the best. Competent week 2 pull. Popped to respectable after one week's training. The other two were nothing to write home about.
They might have all been competent...not sure about Lepolesa...wasn't taking much of an interest in BT at that point.
I think I'm going to stick with what I've got for the moment. I've already wasted enough money hiring and firing staff.

Best way to do it when you start off...it took me a couple of seasons to get my sytem in place...then three more to get lepolesa where he is. You've got to play the hand you are given.
Don't forget your psychs, too for their sceondaries.
