it is short for sicut. It is latin and you put it in when you are unsure of something, usually spelling.

also a possibility - although your example is sic!

I declared at 406-3 and they have only scored 60-4 in 38 overs. I had set my bowlers to defensive as I had feared a duffing. So I should get it sorted tomorrow...

sic is used when you are quoting something and you want to make it clear that a mistake/oddity was by the person you are quoting not you.

It could be used when quoting an archaic document with a weird spelling - more usually you use it when quoting someones stupid spelling error to make it clear they're a moron

I genuinely didn't know that, we didn't do latin at our comprehensive. We did GCSEs in happy slapping and video editing management, or whatever the equivelent was in 1782.

Oh, and BT - it's going well. They were 187 AO, I'm 174-3, two batsmen on 70-odd apiece.
