I quite like it as a lightweight game, but it does seem rather random as it stands.

the best games can be either light or heavy, with the reward for understanding heavy. scalable i think the word is.

End of Over 15 (4 runs). Pboranjing CC: 52-0, runrate=3.47

Going ok. They've still got their opening bowlers on, so I'm hoping there's some rubbish after that.
2009-05-12 12:31:39
They removed my openers quick and it looked like this as 3 and 4 struggled to get in:
End of Over 10 (2 runs). Leeds Apathetical: 14-2, runrate=1.40
Prinsloo 5-0-11-0
Joseph* 2 (14 balls)
Shilowa 6 (24 balls)

But they seem to have got settled, or at least Shilowa has:
End of Over 17 (9 runs). Leeds Apathetical: 52-2, runrate=3.06
Wainwright 9-2-26-2
Shilowa* 32 (43 balls)
Joseph 14 (37 balls)
2009-05-12 14:40:45
Bowled my opponent out for 90. Should be ok..
2009-05-12 14:51:13
not doing very well

End of Over 52 (4 runs, 1lb). Leeds Apathetical: 181-6, runrate=3.48.

should be winning this game, it's a bad weather day though. I almost hope I can collapse quickly now so I can bowl in these conditions. Tomorrow is sunny of course

The players are off the field for lunch.

End of Over 35 (1 runs). Slow Balls : 81-9, runrate=2.31
Trail by 326 runs. (Pboranjing CC 407-8 dec)

Got my follow on box checked, which is good. Doing ok, and might even win today.
2009-05-13 20:38:35
im rubbish in fc
given up on it
the whole thing just bores me nowadays
2009-05-14 12:45:38
End of Over 40 (1 runs). Leeds Apathetical: 151-3, runrate=3.78 (1st Inn: 245-10)
Lead by 137 runs. (Huddersfield 259-10)
Mangal 10-2-35-0
Masilo* 40 (86 balls)
Joseph 65 (79 balls)

Despite the weather getting worse overnight and the pitch theoretically deteriorating my batsmen have suddenly started playing properly for the 1st time. I have set a declaration target - if they get there too fast there is the danger of losing!
2009-05-14 13:28:20
That's poor. The declaration instructions for 2nd inns needs looking at. Even half a dozen or so "IF" type statements would be a start. "IF 200 ahead AND <50 overs left, declare". That sort of thing.

End of Over 99 (1 runs). Slow Balls : 396-7, runrate=4.00 (1st Inn: 95-10)
Lead by 84 runs. (Pboranjing CC 407-8 dec)

Three wickets left, then hopefully knock off the runs without too much incident.

I think it's in the dev plans

but so much is and who knows when it'll appear. Considering FC took seasons to get working...
2009-05-14 18:27:19
End of Over 65 (Maiden). Huddersfield: 154-10, runrate=2.37 (1st Inn: 259-10)
Trail by 89 runs. (Leeds Apathetical 245-10 & 257-3 dec)
Geary 8-4-5-3
Wainwright* 0 (3 balls)

that was tense - 10th wicket in the last available over to win and retain leadership of the league by a handful of points.

This is why I prefer FC to the others - I actually had to declare early and take a risk or a draw was likely.

Nice double pop today. I wonder what he's worth, any ideas?

A Scotsman playing cricket, scandalous.

Anyway, couple of questions.

1) How important is stamina in the one day matches?
I've not trained it before. But now have one player training it. Will put a few more as they pop in their main training. the ages mean its worth training the main skill anymore. And stamina goes up as quick no matter the age. Thats the plan anyway.

2) How old is too old for training. The player on stamina is 23, I have another still training a main skill at 23. Can I assume they will continue to train at a reduced rate at 24 and beyond. In stamina case at the same rate?

Cheers.
2009-05-18 16:47:42
stamina is described in the rules as 'perhaps the most important skill'
which is rubbish, but it probably does have a big impact in performance particularly in longer innings/spells

the standard training advice seems to be stop training after 1st primary pop at age 23. Stamina trains at the same rate whatever though. Secondaries actually get faster of course
2009-05-18 17:10:30
stamina has a massive affect on reprters summaries, i used to have really high stamina players back in the day when not many did and as a result my sumaries were on a par with some div 3 clubs but the primaries of my guys were tosh.
