Subject: Elections...
If i could vote more than once the lib dems would have another two votes (watford and St albans) and conservatives would have another (stockport)
Labour: RED 40%
Conservative: BLUE 10%
Lib Dem: YELLOW 10%
Green Party: GREEN
UKIP: PURPLE 20%
INDEPENDENTS: OTHERS 20%
So in Sokker, Labour would win the polls. A terrible showing for the tories and lib dems with UKIP taking a chunk of the polls...
Lets see how good our football team strip colour method of prediction is :)

more teams play in red than any other colour though!
yeah I'm a bit late on this I know!!

Ok. I was very lucky, because I got a grant and my fees paid for. But I still ended up with about 6000 pounds of student debt. I think you need to look at this as more of a Uni Tax than a loan.
Half the people who take out the loan will never pay it back.
At 30 grand a year, graduates will have to pay back 20 pounds a week.
They made their pledge when they thought there was more money available than there is. But that doesn't excuse George stupid Osbourne letting Vodafone off the hook with a 6 billion pound tax bill, which works out at twice the amount raised per year from the new student loans / fees.

I finished Uni with loans totalling 42k. Architecture is expensive.
I think a better system would be to get rid of all the crappy univerities and all the crappy pointless courses. Then there would be more money for proper courses and quality education. I can't stand this pointless education setup designed no any old gimp gets qualifications. Have a properly funded education system on BOTH academic and vocational subjects and make sure everyone leaves school at least knowing letter and numbers and being able to work money properly.

yeah, some of these courses are an absolute joke. One lad on my course left to go and do football studies. I mean seriously.
I'll have loans worth 28k when i finish, but how much of that will i pay back as a teacher? Not a lot really

Exactly. I just can't understand why this money can't be taxed from the wealthy or coorporations/banks other than students and to leave them mired in debt for most of their life.
I agree with you Jaize. I am just worried that our education system is moving more in the direction of Yankee system where ALL students are left in debt for a major part of their life. This will have grave effect on overall life of a graduate.. sad. We need educated people for our new economic realities where we have to move to a knowledge based economy now that our manufacturing industries are dead. We can't all be bankers!
Nice to see you post mate. Have not seen you around for sometime... :) Miss your humour. hehe

Valid point about useless courses. You are a good example of what I have a problem with. I do not want you left with a debt of 28k. I can understand how depressing life must be to start ones working career with that sort of debt. Its just sickening. THe poor have to pay for the mistakes of the filthy banking elite. :(
I'm not bothered about the debt though, it's what i want to do and what i need to get the job i want. With that job i'll be getting pay that wont pay back a lot, so in real terms that course is worth a lot less than the actual debt i'll leave with. So everyone who goes to uni seriously and for a reason, will always be paying back what their course is actually 'worth' to them and society. It's those that go with no real reason as to why, except for staying out of the real world for 3/4 more years that are the one's causing the big gap, who leave and go on the dole.

Posh crayons ?
"I think a better system would be to get rid of all the crappy univerities and all the crappy pointless courses."
The system as it stands allows people from any background to get an education if they want to enough. If you remove "crappy" universities, you reduce choice, which will ensure that we return to an elitist system where only the richest and the brightest of the poor get educated. I say this mainly because I went through clearing as a result of failing my GCSEs, and ended up after an attritional education ( it was a real struggle getting me to do any work - not much changes) with a degree.
Thoroughly agree about "crappy" courses though - courses should be aimed at what the job market needs. How many Journalists do we need, and how many 1000s of people do media studies every year ?

not posh crayons.
A BA(Hons), A PG(Dip)Arch and an MA as well as at least 2 years experience (slavery) between degrees soon add up!
Well maybe fairly posh crayons...
