I was just wondering what kind of music everybody likes. Anybody know any bands that aren't well known but are great?
For me it has to be Black Rebel Motorcycle Club (they do have a stupid name but listen to them anyway), Air Traffic and Jamie T.

yes... paul wall, bun b, chamillionaire(maybe famous)
Enjoying Maccabees, Rumble Strips and Killers at the moment. Can't beat a bit of Bloc Party, either.
Almost anything Metal! :D
Amon Amarth, Arch Enemy, Blind Guardian, Children of Bodom, Demons & Wizards, Dimmu Borgir, Ektomorf, Emperor, Godsmack, Iced Earth, Mayhem, Media Lab, Mudvayne, Necrophagist, Satyricon, Slipknot, Soilwork, Vader... And probably some more, but too lazy to mention more :]

I am a big fan of Steps.
I have been to several concerts.

never been able to classify mine, as i like stereophonics, and killers, stuff like that, but then i like stuff like bodyrockers and also some paul weller, and old* bands like ACDC, and even some Ozzy(his band cant remember the name) and then theres a beegees song that i like.
pretty much, ill listen to anything and if i like it i like it and couldnt care whether i should or shouldnt like it based on what people think

Black Sabbath. That's who you are thinking of. Paranoid and War Pigs are classics.
thx saying that i think they are the 2 i like, may be another aswell but as i said i just listen to anyhting
I'm an indie fan at heart, although I like most stuff. Off to see the Deftones in a couple of weeks; that's about the limit of my heavier forays. Been listening to a lot of Ben Folds stuff recently.
There are a lot of good music fans out there, respect!
I mainly listen to Chicago Blues and a bit of soft Trad. Jazz. At the moment the stereo at work has Beethoven on it, the one at home has my own mix tape of alternative rock - The Mission, Sisters of Mercy, Violent Femmes, Pixies, They Might Be Giants, Butthole Surfers, Velvet Underground amongst others. The iPod has The Smiths, Green Day, Pavement, Nine Inch Nails and Red Hot Chili Peppers etc.

Gimme basic traditional 1980s Heavy Metal. NWOBHM was the halcyon days of metal.
Iron Maiden, Saxon, Priest, Samson, Praying Mantis, greasy long hair, biker jackets (but no sign of an actual bike) with big poster-painted designs on the back and the sleeves torn off, worn over a smelly denim jacket, studded wristbands and cheap cider and fags. \m/
Nowadays, I still listen mainly to metal, but not the extreme stuff that was mentioned earlier. Our European cousins seem to class death/speed/thrash/doom metal as normal Heavy Metal, when nothing could be further from the truth.
Having said that, my favourite band of recent times has been the German Power Metal band Freedom Call. Throw in some Dream Evil (Sweden) and I'm a happy chappie. :)
Jethro Tull for those lighter moments though, even if they were the loudest band I've ever heard. Even louder than Metallica and Maiden. Dead gen, 'Guv.

New Kids On The Block?
New Kids On The Block?
Woppa, when people say that "New Kids On The Block rock!" they don't actually mean "rock"!
I know! It's Crazy!
Fatkev, have you still got a maiden T-shirt?

Supergrass are the best band on this planet. Or any other planet. Fact.
They Might Be Giants were my favourite band in the early 90s. They're still knocking out new material in their 40s. They'll still be working in the nursing home I'd imagine.
Ben Folds I have a lot of time for, but his earlier stuff was more fun. He sounds slower and bitterer these days.
G Love and the Special Sauce is my current favourite though, Nice blues / swing feel that works with the singers' accent perfectly.
My wife is into the Cure, Smiths, Tori Amos, and Carina Round. Very powerful voice Carina has. Again, her earlier stuff has more energy.
My 2 year old boy thinks the Fratellis are great, but also likes Black Horse and the Cherry Tree by K T Tunstall, and Song 2 by Blur. Basically anything with "Woo Hoo" in it.
Most good music seems to come from those people who don't allow themselves to be produced out of the record. The death knell for any rock band is when the producer says "How about we use some strings ?".
