Subject: Close Season Transfer Window

It's been an eventful one for Norwich, we've let go of 5 players, signed another 6 :

David Strihavka - Czech top leagues top scorer
Jamie Cureton - Championships top scorer
Dave Marshall - Keeper who saved a pen from Ronaldinho
Matthew Gilks - second string keeper who kept 15 clean sheets in 20 games for Rochdale last season
John Otsemobor - Highly regarded Crewe right back.
Julian Brellier - Defensive midfielder, and hero of Hearts.

Who have your team signed, who have they let go, and are you happy with their progress ?

Although I loved Luis Garcia for obvious reasons and would have loved it even better if he'd played part of the manager's plans I can still say I'm delighted Liverpool have signed Fernando Torres. Chap looks quite enthusiastic about Anfield and all the rest, and if it's true the fee was under 20m, he wasn't ridiculously expensive, either. Considering Barca have played 16m for Henry I might want to edit this previous comment.

The Toon

In: Geremi, Barton, Viduka

Out: Parker and a bunch of idiots including that muppet Bramble

?? In: A 20 goal striker (lmfao)
?? Out: Martins (Arsenal probably) , Owen (If anyone will have him)

Looking forward to seeing what Big Sam does with the team. Disappointed that Smith was just a rumor, especially as we seem certain to lose at least the better of our strike pair.

Good that dylanos can answer for me :)

I believe the fee was £21.6m. Which is far too expensive for a player who only scored 14 last season.
I cant understand why Benitez hasnt re-signed Owen for £9m, who is a proven goal scorer, instead of a pretty boy footballer who isnt a proven goal scorer for more than double that. Just doesnt make sense to me.

Manchester United

In: Hargreaves 17m (finally), Nani + Anderson (about 35m together),
?Carlos Tevez? (either a loan like liverpool had for mascherano or about 20m)

Out : Richardson (hopefully), Smith (maybe) Heinze ( liverpool maybe)

Wolves:

In: Matt Jarvis(woohoo), Darren Ward(suppose it's better than Breen), Freddy Eastwood(Woohoo)
Out: All released: Carl Cort(woohoo), Jackie McNamara(waah), Rohan rickets(meh), Micheal Oakes.
Loan not renewed: Craig Davies(a striker that couldn't shoot nor head)
on the TL: Frankowski(loving known as the pole with no goal), Johnson(similiar to Davies, but a bit better) and 2 others I can't remember.

Really pleased so far, the wage bill has been drastically reduced, 2 highly promising players have been brought in, and hopefully with 2/3 other signings, whether on loan or permanent, I am really looking forward to the upcoming season!

Owen is too frequently injured to take a gamble on I would imagine.

I thought you were a canary. Are you Rick Waghorn ?
2007-07-06 13:01:02
Even if it was going to save you £12.6m? And when you already have Crouch, Kuyt, Bellamy & Fowler? Is it too much of a risk?

ANd yes, I do know that Bellamy will be leaving, but is Fowler? I heard they arent giving him a new contract.

2007-07-06 13:02:39
i am sort of im a hometown supporter and a away club so to speak
2007-07-06 13:03:02
i thought he was there for trophy use stick him in the cabinet :p

Fowler was on Sky Sports the other night saying that no clubs have offered him a contract, so I'd say that he's been shown the door.

I get the feeling that money isn't much of an object at the moment for Rafa.
