A mate at work who is a year or two younger than me has one and swears by it. Says John Madden is a great game, so you should look that up if you are into the NFL.
Never played it myself, but never heard anything other than praise for it.

I need to get the missus a driving game, having spent 200 quid on the wii and a flying game, (she spent a pound a minute on daytona while we were on hols) if anyone knows of one, that would dig me out of a hole :)
We've got one, and they are great fun. Wii Sports is great for a laugh with mates, although it's very basic.
Bought Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2007 the other day for it, which is a lot of fun. The Wii sensor bar is a bit dodgy, but the golfing experience is pretty realistic.
Mario Strikers Charged Football is also great fun, especially online against friends. It is good to humiliate your peers.
The Wii is very much aimed at friendly/family fun rather than an indepth hardcore gaming experience. It's also a good work out.

NCN, your request for review skills are poor. Surely you should have asked if the Wii was good before you bought it.
What would you have done if we'd all described it as a load of horlicks?

His is from Naaarch!
Shiney, shiny!
Ooooh look at the gadget...
Burn the witch...
That sort of thing, do you think research would come into it, anyway NCN is loaded ;-)

Definitely not loaded, we bought our house way too late.
If its horlicks, ebay it to a mug I guess.

Oh, and that's why you're Head of Strategy and I'm not, fman :). I'm hoping to sell Marlet for 2 million profit soon, by the way ;)...
Success, kind of. The missus loves the boxing, and the tennis, and now I can't get a look in.
Grrrr. :)
Grrrr. :)
just start talking pixels, and frame rate nonsense, you'll get it back in no time!
I'm going to have a quick rant about Nintendo now. They know how to make money.
On this Wii system, you can use their online shop, which has a bunch of N64, Sega Mega Drive games and the like which you can play on the Wiis' virtual console. The shop requires you to purchase credits : 7 quid gets you 1000 points. The missus says she wants to buy Super Mario Kart which costs 1000 points, so I think fair enough, 7 quid for a half decent game, right, maybe 30 quid for a couple of controllers ? Wrong.
I could have bought the credits on-line if I had a mastercard or Visa, but I consider these things to be the spawn of satan, preferring to stash my money in pennies in a bottle in the living room, and stitching pound notes into my bedding.
So, I go to Woolworths, having unstitched some 20 pound notes from a pillow to purchase 7 pounds worth of points. I have to buy 14 pounds worth, as they only have 2000 points value cards. Next, you have to purchase a classic controller, 15 pounds each, which I assumed would plug straight into the Wii. Wrong here too, the controllers plug into the Wii remote, which is a clever trick as they sell the Wii with only one remote. So it was back to the shops again to buy another Wii remote for 35 quid (including a games package).
So - in order to get a 2 player game on Mario Kart, it's :
14 quid worth of credits
30 quid on Classic Controllers
35 quid on a new Wii remote
That's around 80 quid ! And all for 7 quids worth of (admittedly great fun) gaming. At least I have the infrastructure in place now, should we decide to buy another game for the Virtual Console, but if I get another 6 or 7 games, the chances are I'll have to go and buy a 1Gb Gaming card (15 quid) as well !
I have a sneaky suspicion that it won't be the last controller I'll need to buy either, as the 2nd remote doesn't have a nunchuck, so if the missus wants to beat me at boxing, that'll be another 15 quid down the tubes...
Be warned, Wii's are highly addictive, and will result in you buying a large amount of plastic.

So in a shorter sentence.
Nintendo are a large company, and will do anything possible to get your money!

I don't care!
Wiis rock and they have truly made me into a gibbering wreck with lop-sided arm muscles...
Nintendo do indeed know how to make money - they made the Wii!
