Right.
My Dad is coming over from NZ to visit in 2 weeks time therefore I need to do loads about the house to get it ready for said imposition.
What should I buy for the Wii to completely distract me from doing any of it and is good enough to forget to even pick the old duffer up from the airport?

The suggestion on gamespot seems to be that if you haven't played Resident Evil 4 yet, you should.
Oh, and about the spastic thing - in the carnival tent you can trade the carnival cards you get after playing each game for extra in-game features. One of these features is heckling, you can make your characters heckle the other players by waving the wii around when they're rolling the dice. One of the female characters says something very similar to spastic.
