My company has just upped its password system so now we must follow these rules.

1. There must be normal characters - like a b c
2. There must be capital like A B C
3. There must be a number like 1 2 3
4. There must be a special character like ! ? *
5. The password must not be spellcheckable - i.e. real words such as Password
6. It must be at least 8 letters.

Took me 4 attempts this morning to get a new one that worked. Banana08! seemed a dead cert apart from blooming number 5....

Just hit the keyboard repeatedly until it accepts the new password, then never turn your computer off. Works for me.

I've started using patterns of keys rather than words. That way you can make something memorable and difficult to crack.

Are they pretty patterns?

Our work password system is pretty stringent.

It contains all of your points except 4 and 5, but you cannot use the same password again for at least another 8 passwords, or something ridiculous.

If anyone knows my HT password they know the password to half of all my stuff.

Haha, what, just incase you got to your 45th password and someone attempts to hack your log in using the 3rd one you used 5 years ago that they don't know?
