not sure we should be closing threads just because they give us a bit of stick over sport. makes us seem like a bunch of cry baby big girls blouses. surely with all the scathing wit, famous british irony, etc etc we could have held our own rather than rely on the teachers to break it up.

My concern is where those topics are inevitably going to lead up. The last similar topics just ended up with racism coming into them and they are far more trouble than they are worth.

Plus the constant rule breaking - ie not posting in English etc etc doesn't help the cause.

i agree there is a time & place to shut them down. i'm just not sure that played too well. no one had a serious attempt at putting forward any of the arguments around 'the final result does not detract from the phenomenal achievements... etc' that the thread warranted. anyway what's done is done and its not all that important, but i wanted to register my feelings which is what i've done.

i fully understand your joy at winning. but i do feel that as formula 1 fans you must appreciate how amazing Hamilton is as a driver in his first season, and what a miracle his achievement has been. When he first promoted to Formula 1 someone was given 1000 to 1 odds of him winning the title by 2010. He almost did it 3 years early! you are happy because this is the last chance for you to win. you know how nearly you were beaten, and you know that next season and for many seasons after Hamilton will dominate Formula 1. He achieved all this while part of a team that was fighting itself, and had court problems; just think how good he will be when mclaren work together to ensure his victory.

enjoy your happiness... next season you will know only pain!

i think its great if a topic shows up racism... immediate lifetime sokker bans for anyone caught using racist language or abuse. just like at the real clubs. gets rid of the idiots.

i have already said that i think on this (rare) occassion the mod was incorrect to close the thread. and as i say, you should be happy and i have no problem with it. but.... because hamilton MAYBE is the best driver is like saying maybe it will rain in england! there is no MAYBE... its a simple fact. Hamilton's time is come.
