Am I allowed to gloat here?
I'm glad Hamilton lost. I can't stand the munchkin. A well oiled publicity machine and fawning commentators has annoyed the hell out of me.
He bottled it and is now crying over fuel irregularities. He and Alonso should have been disqualified after the spying row.
Let's face it, even Bernie Ecclestone doesn't like him. There's more to it than meets the eye and the British public is largely blind to it all.

Actually it's mainly the public who weren't "interested" until about 8 races into the season that are blind to it.
Whilst I agree with your general position, I can't help but think that anyone Bernie Ecclestone doesn't like is probably OK with me.
Good point jaize. I thought I had an intense dislike for Ecclestone until I discovered that he owns half of QPR. Now I hate him even more.
I can only second your views on the matter jaize but may I add that F1 has descended so low that even drivers Bernie can't stand are lame. Lewis is so not genuine he could be a successful televangelist overseas if he wasn't such a hell of a driver he is.
That touches upon the point I was trying to make. Who cares? He is employed to drive a fast car flat out. What does it matter whether he has no personality? Nearly all drivers seem to be like that, Kimi for example. Probably a top bloke but not the biggest bundle of laughs you will ever meet.
It is a bit like the press constantly saying Beckham is a bit thick, so what? If he was a politician or physicist then that might be a problem, kicking a ball? Nah...
Gone are the days our formula 1 drivers were all drunk smokers that loved the ladies and were mainly teeth, chest hair and medallions; but also gone (hopefully) are the days of colourful drivers dying in a fireball. It is no accident that sports reliant on precision and a controlled temperament are dominated by emotionally retarded, anally retentive icemen.

While I generally agree with you I don't think there is a strong correlation between charisma and horrendous accidents. See Kubica; I wouldn't say he's a rock star type of driver and still, he would have had the fireball treatment only two decades ago in a similar accident. These 'cars' nowadays are uber-safe. Reflecting the corporate image of the whole biz. The latter's the problem. I think there are just as many bad-asses in F1 as ever but tales of their outrageous behaviour are restricted to the likes of Popbitch.
I don't know, anyway, although I didn't want LH to win, you have to admit, he is extremely talented at driving quickly, although if he wants to become WDC he will have to learn to set a car up himself, and not copy Alonso, as he probably wont be there next season.
Aren't they both signed to Mclaren for next season, already?

Apparently he might be doing some gardening.
bigbak - where do you get your information:
This is what I remember Bernie saying:
“It is painfully obvious to me that the right guy to be World Champion is Lewis,” and
“In fact my main fear would be if he didn’t win it. Kimi Raikkonen barely talks to anyone and as such has done little for the sport, and as for Fernando Alonso, in his two years as World Champion he has done nothing.”

Yes, but on the grid last sunday, he said he wanted alonso, then raikkonnen, and didn't think it would be good for LH to win.
He couldn't really make his mind up, just kept on saying different things!
He probably didn't want to give an answer, but couldn't help actually saying something.

That's where I got it from.

I used to watch F1 many years ago but its all so political and, frankly, uninteresting they have made the cars slower, they have made so many regulations that a technicality occurs virtually every race.
World Champion driver is an F1 driver? I don`t think so. Its the same as the americans saying the winner of the superbowl is world champion. The world don`t care and so few people get a chance. I doubt really that F1 is much of a sport anymore as so few people can take part. Chess is more of a sport!
