that i'm not a toff

Nope, I am not. Working class by birth, middle class by education, me.

I went for the very old fashioned option of work hard at school, get a good education, get a few degrees and then a good job which you work hard at and get quite good at. In exchange for this you get given quite a bit of money.

Apparently it is easier to make money nowadays if you become an actor, a footballer or marry a footballer (apart from the thousands of people that do want to do these things and get paid nothing.) Or go on the telly.

I would suggest you stick with the less exciting but statistically more likely way of making a bit of cash than being a fame hungry wastrel that has more chance of being homeless than of being a success.

I went down the route of staying in education until I had mastered the art of passing courses with the minimum required effort. As a result I finished my degree at the ripe old age of 24, having failed my GCSEs the first time, a National Diploma first year the first time, and been kicked out of a Higher National Diploma first year, but then started the second year at a different uni (so much for a national standard qualification there then).

IT is useful because it allows lazy people to copy and paste their way into well paid jobs that people assume are needed, when in fact most IT staff are skiving on facebook when they should be working.

Borrowed Jaize's words, but amended slightly.

Working class by birth, middle class by education, me.

I went for the old fashioned option of being intelligent and scraping through at school and with my degree, and then a good job which you scrape through at and get towards adequate at. In exchange for this you get given quite a bit of money and not pay much tax.

I'd go with what Woppa said, apart from the tax.
2007-11-09 13:04:43
Damn you on the tax front! I do not love my monthly tax bill at all!
2007-11-09 13:05:32
Change your address to mine. Visit here 180 nights a year. Bob's your uncle; pay IoM tax :)

2007-11-09 13:06:59
