I believe that when he says they are not working properly its because they dont work the way he wants them to.

ya think?

Billy/Benmor:

The last I checked (and this hasnt been recently) the conditional orders don't all work as common sense would dictate.

If losing after X time, replace player Y with player Z. Right now, as far as I know, this only does a one time check. So if you set it to 70 minutes, it checks then and only then. If you are tied at 70 minutes, but losing at 72, the order does not fire off.

You have to repetitively set conditional checks at say, 5 minute intervals, to work around this.

There was a second gripe I had about red card management, but on a second review I now realize it actually did what I asked, so I'll stand corrected on that :)

Thats what I get for using a previous week's conditionals (even though it was the proper lineup configuration)

I see what you are talking about now. This is not a bug though, it is intended to be that way. But I see your point, I would like for it to behave as the red card conditional. They could give an option to either have the conditional checked on that specific minute, or have the condition activated at that minute so that it will do the condition as soon as it evaluates to true.

So its not broken, its just not the way you want it to be. Maybe they have a reason for not wanting to have those conditionals constantly being checked by the match engine???

"Counting their money"

Give me a break and do some math. 1.5 full time developers, hosting site, multiple servers, etc.

*yawn*

This game has more and more far-reaching changes than any online sim i know of with a similar user base.

Oh, and i happen to know that they're working on some of the issues addressed here, and you'd know that too if you all followed the bugs/ideas thread. :P

The game is clearly growing, btw, although not in the US - we broke 50k not long ago, and now we are pushing 58k.

See Billy, I'm not sure it's just 'how I want it to be'.

It's how actual soccer substitutions can and are made.
2007-12-10 20:43:32
I'll believe it when I see it (re your last statement)
2007-12-10 20:57:35
Well when I said "how you want it to be", I also mean I would like to see it that way too. But I still see it as not being a bug as I consider this to be just a game and not 100% accurate to real life.

And I never even thought about wanting it to be better because it is 10 times better than what you have on Hattrick.
2007-12-10 21:08:59
thats true, but my measuring stick isn't hattrick. I never played that garbage sim :)

I also don't think, after two years, its too complicated or much to ask that it actually work as reality dictates.

Since they are so worried about things like running passes from defenders instead of midfielders....I mean, come on :)

*hops on the islander1 bandwagon*
2007-12-11 06:43:27
or perhaps they're worried about fixing things that more than one person is worried about.

I gotta say, i don't think i've ever seen others whining about this HORRID bug on conditional orders.

Anyway, lol.

The fix would take under a freakin hour. You are a coder Guac, given access YOU could fix it.

It's a simple change to the way conditionals are treated. whats ironic is that about a year ago greg fixed like half of them. But not all of them.

the only reason less people gripe, is because you can save conditional orders from match to match. So once you set 5 conditionals for one player to come in every x amount of minutes, you can use it week to week.

of course, if you wanted to sub more then one player this way, you run out of conditionals available. I'm not in the situation to use it now, but I have been in the past.

if you couldn't save them from week to week, and instead had to add them manually every week, there would be far more people bitching. That's a work around to bad code though. I'm not asking for a rebuilt match engine here.

You can put a dress on a pig but it's still a pig

i haven't bothered trying to understand the bug you see :)

Have you posted it succinctly on the bugs/ideas thread?

(ie don't bother explaining it here, there is good)

Yes, repeatedly in the past, although not recently. Pissing in the wind.

It's simple. conditional orders for substitutions based on time and score only do a one time check instead of constantly checking after the initial trigger time.

oh and you're sure that's a trivial change>?
