Guys, at what age have you found it useless to train a primary skill. Is 23 the limit? Is 24 worth it at all? Thanks.
personally i stop training specific players after 21.
if my players gets training after that age its because thay play in the trained position.
i think after 23 its waste of training spots, unless its a potential NT player that is missing a pop or 2 to make it.

For most players 23 is considered the age to sell a finished product. But I for example still have a 23 and a 24 yo striker. Are they popping slower? Of course. But I have too good reasons to keep them. 1) they are the reason my team wins. 2) With a couple of more pops they will have a very rare skill set, and thus net me way more than I could sell them for currently.
I would look at each player on an individual basis. There are too many special cases to have a definite cut off point.

Billy, thanks, that was actually my question. 2 of my top defenders are 24 and I want to train the others and your answer makes sense for them too. Plus it gives me time to prepare for next season and a switch in focus. Thanks.
Sell the 24 year olds in the next 2-3 weeks, or hold them and sell them at 25 early next season.
I think it depends on how crucial, like Billy said, to how well your team does.
I have 3 reasonably big midfielders right now (50 ish ratings). 2 are 23 this year.
Shayne Self is an OMC and is almost indispensable to my team. I don't anticipate selling him until maybe 25.
Jermaine Stephenson is a wing mid, 23, and I actually planned on selling him this year, before he got nailed with a month long injury. Scores a similar rating, but far less important to my team's overall success then Self is.

i sell my "special" players some time in their 24th year normally. less special ones i sell when they're rounded out (ie have recently popped in most skills) during 23rd year.
Does anyone in the US keep their star players? Will we ever have US players posting 70 ratings?
Personally, I'm going to treat this as a soccer simulation, and not a train and sell simulation. So nine of the guys in my starting lineup right now will probably be in my starting lineup 5 seasons from now. I can train guys to suit my preferences easier than I can find them on the transfer market.
We'll see if it works or not......

I'm probably going to train Le Breton and Bu up to 70ish ratings.....guess that doesn't help the US too much though.
i have this guy...
Jermaine Dillard, age: 22
value: 593 250 $, wage: 5 325 $
club: Aguilas son Campeones, country: USA
divine form, formidable tactical discipline
bookings:
he gave me a mark of a 59 last game....i'm gonna keep him till he is 25. he'll probably hit the 70 mark by then ;)

It's odd US is so different from Canada. In Canada we have (for the most part) held on to our star players. If you check "Dream Team" there are only a couple of players on the list not based in Canada.
I'm giving full training to a 26 year old this season. :) He made his last pop in 5 weeks (and some general) - pretty good for his age and the skill level.

By general, he means the "random" pops on skills that he is not currently training.
