I know I am old, but I could have sworn that I remembered red and yellow cards reset before every season. I posted in the international forum asking when that happened, and I'm told they don't reset.

Am I growing senile?

Yes, you are senile.

It has always been like this :)

Only in Hattrick.

On the subject of red cards...

My midfielder Alfred Layfield picked up a red card (3rd yellow) in the last league game of the season. that means he has to sit out the first league game of this season, right? Is he eligible to play in the US Cup games?
2008-02-12 18:12:49
It means that he can't play in the cup but will be available for the league game.

thanks...sucks, though. i thought it was the other way around. glad i checked.

In the match orders, when setting your squad, if the player's name is in red, then he can not play.

suspensions apply to official games, league or cup.

A "red" suspended player is allowed to play in friendlies for training purposes.

NT cards and "League or Cup" cards are seperate. NT suspensions only apply to NT games.

It should be that way here also. In RL leagues, cards are not carried over from one season to the next. Sure, I know this isn't RL, but SK is an attempt to simulate RL and should attempt to have the same parameters that RL leagues adhere to, including clearing cards in the offseason. :(

This is not a gripe because I currently have 2 reds, I have always felt SK lacked in this part of the simulation by adhering to a "No Card Reset" policy during the offseason.

omg not this topic again.

my 2 cents.

We can assume that the devs like the amount of players out for injuries and red cards. Lets keep injuries a constant and just deal with cards.

Just assume each team loses an average of about 10 starting player-games over a season to a card as an assumption. Say 7 of these are by accumulation of yellows and the other 3 are by immediate reds or 2 yellows in 1 game.

Ok, the 3 reds is the same. Can be dispersed evenly over the season too.

But now you have no one with yellows at the beginning of the season. So the rate of getting yellows has to increase to get those same 7.

Of course the other effect is these 7 missed games will be weighed WAY back on the end of the season since there will be VERY few in the beginning of the season (can't have ANY for the first 2 weeks, only can miss 4th week if you get one each of the first 3). Etc.

So what happens here is you end up with the same number of player games missed, but now by resetting at the end of the each season more of the games being missed are weighted at the critical end matches.

That gives NO value and will just piss users off. Wouldn't you be annoyed at having so many more games missed at the end of the season compared to the beginning?

You couldn't explain the situation with better words...^_^

And this is my exact same thought!!

Sorry if I come off as seeming to have an agenda, I surely don't.

I understand what you are saying about the distribution by not reseting and see the advantages. However, from a simulation aspect, it fails in my opinion. :S

And that's all it is, an opinion... :P

If you look at the simulation aspect, you have to remember that the season is only 16 weeks, when you play 14+ (# cupgames) official games, while in Real life the season is 50 and plus games while lasting around 40 weeks (in Europe).

But everything in SK (and that oHTer game) are miniaturized for simulation purposes. Hate to use it, but that oHTer games resets and their isn't an outcry from users due to cards late in the season.

I'll leave it at that and drop the subject. Like I said, I am not opposed to the status-quo as well in SK.

I don't mind the non-resetting of cards at all,it's just when you have 5 or 6 starters sitting there with 2 yellows you get a little nervous.
