I see where you are coming from; you are in a catch 22. Actually, I think that only stands when you have two choices to choose from.

Option 1, Go the route you went....you already know the result.

Option 2, play your starters and lose.....same result as above.

Option 3, play your starters and win, autopromote, lose every game in A, and have less fans at the end of the season than you had at the start, BUT, had you not spent a dime while in A, you would probably have a buttload of money in your hand to go back to B league with. I think that is what Derby just did (ha ha)....Anyway, back in B you would still wind up either winning your league again and earning another playoff, or even Autopromoting......

I would have gone with the last option, but that's just me.
