why are they so consistently retarded? I mean when was the last time anyone saw a free kick within 30 yards of the goal actually be a pass, instead of some poorly thought through shot.
In the orders, it would be nice to be able to chose different players to take direct and indirect free kick.
a simple pass or shoot as first choice option would be all I'd need.
I'm all for playmaking factoring into the decision making process, but the extent it is right now, it's just stupid.

In real soccer, the referre decides whether a free kick is direct or indirect based on the foul. This game appears to do it based on distance, although I've seen so long freekicks end up in the net.
In real life, a indirect freekick has to be touched by a player of either team before it goes into the net. If a player shoots the ball in a indirect freekick and it goes in the opposing team's net without touching a player from either team, the goal will not be allowed and the opposing team will take a goal kick.

well in sokker, i think there is no such thing as an indirect kick.

I've stopped listing players to take free kicks. Worked out to my advantage this week. On a free kick just outside the box my striker pounded 1 into the back of the net. :)
Yeah, that was nice. Heaven forbid you position your players to succeed and your retard kicker actually passes it 10 feet to them.
I've had a couple of great set plays over my career, but they've typically been from long distances. I've also seen my free kicker nail goals from just inside the half line. All in all it's pretty comedic and if Greg is going to tweak anything this season it should be these.
Free kicks should be a weapon. Now I get fouled and it's like great, that's a waste. I had a free kick from a location VERY similar to fromo's example. An utter waste.
