Subject: Changes at Accepting Teams Process

2008-08-22 21:11:06
I do not know who gave that idea to switch bots into managed team during season at B-lvl. I'm talking about switching decent bot teams when somebody must to beat them and right now 3 team will have easy win against newbie's teams.

This is totally crap. For example, a good Fiambres De Mierda bot team from my group has been replaced by a new user. That will make my autopromotion more than certain now, whereas if it didn't happen the last match (Revolution-Mierda) would be a nice contest with a few teams (Fc York, Amish Ninjas) hoping that I don't win so they can autopromote.
Although I am direct benificary of that replacement I would rather promote in an honest enviroment.

It seems to me like a new idea is nothing else but thoughtless try of getting more users into the game (more income in a long run). I think it will also make the B-League less attractive and might discourage some veteran managers from the game itself.

in the short term, the new owners in B-league are going to get smoked and eventually demote.

in the long term, this is going to help active teams in c-league (like mine) because there will be more of an incentive to promote. It will be a bit easier to stay in b-league. most new owners will still end up in c-league because the b-leagues will be full of active owners.

What's the current average number of bots per league in B-League?

1 out of 8?
2 out of 8?
3 out of 8?
4 out of 8?
5 out of 8?

We do need to get rid of those better bots, it's not fair for the new teams to have to compete against them.

Is it?

My groups had 4 bots and all 4 of them were better than 2 user managed teams that just got promoted.

The change will certainly lower the level of competition and by no means B-League becomes more attractive. Less bots does not mean higher level and what kind of league is that you don't know who you will play in a few weeks? It's not even fair in the classification table when we allow the new teams in the middle of the season.

The lowest division, I agree, we have to accept new managers, but now it leaves only 40 US teams (ML & A Leagues) who know their opponents through the end of the season. It is supposed to be long term planning not managing the team on a weekly basis.

I did not realize that some B leagues had 4 bots.

With this new info I think in the long term, replacing those bots with human teams is a good move. (In the short term I would agree with you.) My thinking is the old bots/new users will demote and will be replaced by active C league teams looking to promote, instead of complaining in several threads.

And how fair is collecting the higher sponsor money by a manager who has never won a game? I know a couple of C-League managers who for 1.5 season won like 90% of their matches and have not been financially rewarded as much.
They are going to promote this season, but they are doing it on a lower budget than new B-League users.

1) 4 bots in B-league is way too many. We need to fill B-league with real managers, not strong bots.
2) This should have been done before they expanded C-League but it's never to late to fix things.
3) The managers that have been in C-League for 2 or 3 seasons are a lot better than the newbies. They should have market ready trainees worth around 500K each.
4) Sponsor money increase when you win and decrease when you lose. There's no advantage in sponsor money for a B-League newbie tha'ts losing every week.

We have to think longterm, I think we'll all get what we want in the long run: High competition, high interaction in B-League.

4 bots in B-League is way too many.

I am not sure about new C-League users not being discouraged by the mere allocation to the lower league. As they don't know all the aspect of Sokker at the beginning they could be giving up much sooner. I am sure they wouldn't see a big picture and would be questioning the logic of playing for so many weeks to reach "the starting point" of B-League newbies. I think people decide whether to keep on playing within a few weeks of joining Sokker. B-League newbie will not stay for long either if he keeps on losing.
I am sure this system will get rid of bots in B-League, but IMO it will not attract more new long term users to the game.

If I was in charge, I would keep the things as they are but at the end of each season reduce the number of all Bot Team points to 0 to make them relegated. It would be more just.
2008-08-23 00:23:58
Good idea! At that situation weak managed teams (but strongest then newbie's one) will stay at B-League and bots will be replaced with managed teams from C as autopromotion.
2008-08-23 00:24:52
And for the record - I think only my group had so many bots, as far as I remember the other one's average is much lower.
2008-08-23 00:50:18
4) Sponsor money increase when you win and decrease when you lose. There's no advantage in sponsor money for a B-League newbie tha'ts losing every week.

this is SO true. The first time I first promoted to B-league money was great, then as the season went on I only got 4 points all season- 4 draws. Buy the end of that season sponser money was WAY low. Had to sell some trainees to stay afloat.
So if the new managers DONT win, then the financial rewards can easily be negative
2008-08-23 00:58:16
Not to mention how unfair it is to the current C-league players.

You want to get rid of bots in B-league? Then periodically demote all bots automatically and do additional promotion of best deserving teams from C.

Then periodically demote all bots
`````````````````````````````
would you 'periodically' demote during the season? or at end of season?
if you demote during the season this is unfair to some teams in the series. it is much easier to defeat a new team in their first weeks than say in their 7th week after they have sorted things out.
from my viewpoint, in B-League and up leave the series alone after a season starts.
solution. once a calender year clean house of all bots. have extended autopromotion. instead of instead of 16 autopromotes and letting the rest play in... add an auto promote for every B bot, starting with the most qualified, like now... and just continue down the list for play in by going to the teams that aren't winning but have the best points and GD like now... there are a lot of C teams who don't promote because they can't beat one team... this gives them one chance a calender year to promote and would make it more interesting for EVERYONE... the same thing can be done at all levels...
so when we find out fromo is a bot we can auto promote an extra team to "his" spot...
and the money is WAY different in b leagues... i didn't do well my first season[last] in B league and was still doing better than my best times in C league....
