Subject: Really dumb system

The system of promotion is really dumb in my opinion.
I finished 2nd in my league with 37 points and +58 GD (first team had 37 and 71GD) and I'm not playing in the play-offs, while teams with 31 points and +13 GD from C-League 50 do play. And if you check C-League 50, and strength of other human teams in that league (most of their players are like 30-60k worth) you can see that most of other C-League teams would run them over with 6 or 7 goals and finish that league with 42 points and +80 GD, yet the team that barely won 31 points is in the play-offs.

Dude, baseball worked that way for 100 years until TV demanded a wildcard be added.
That doesn't make it any smarter. And they did change it, didn't they?
Discobolo, I'm in the same situation. Second in the league (36 pts, 74 GD) and the winner has 36 pts, 81 GD. Really frustrating.

Yeah, but they could at least form the leagues better. I mean if in one league human teams have half of the players with like 100-200k value and a couple of them with over 200k or even 400k and in the other teams don't have a single player or have just 2 players worth 100k then you can see that difference in strength of these leagues is ridiculous.
Imagine if in Champions League's or World Cup's drawing of groups they don't separate teams in 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th basket by strength how would that look.

They changed it because of TV, not because it was good for the game. Even so, baseball has plenty of examples of where teams with worse records make the playoffs than teams that didn't. A few examples:
YEAR TEAM LG DIV W L PCT GB
2007 New York Mets NL E 88 74 .543 1.0 Missed playoffs
2007 Chicago Cubs NL C 85 77 .525 -- Won division and made playoffs
YEAR TEAM LG DIV W L PCT GB
2006 Philadelphia Phillies NL E 85 77 .525 12.0 Missed playoffs
2006 St. Louis Cardinals NL C 83 78 .512 -- Won division and made playoffs
YEAR TEAM LG DIV W L PCT GB
2005 Philadelphia Phillies NL E 88 74 .543 2.0 Missed Playoffs
2005 San Diego Padres NL W 82 80 .506 -- Won division and made playoffs
Do better next season, and get 1st :)

Last round the winner of C-league 50 had avg. player mark of 23.4 and goes to the playoffs. You had over 35, I had nearly 37 and we don't. I understand bad luck, but this is more. It's bad game rules. I've been arguing about this for the whole season and what do they do? They send newbies directly into B-leagues. It's just dumb.
THAT, I agree with. All new teams should be put in c.
I am not a baseball fan and do not understand what these percentages mean. However, I doubt in baseball the differences between teams that do and don't go to playoffs are as dramatic as they can be here. A team with players mark of 24 goes to the playoffs and a team with a mark of 37 doesn't! Something is seriously wrong here.
I'll tell you what is even dumber.
Finishing in second place in a freakin C league, and expecting a promotion.

especially when the manager complaining about it has promoted to B league before, was up for 2 seasons and then relegated...

LOL
just work hard and train correctly and you will be top of tables next season and there will be several managers in 2nd who are cursing you!
as to promoting to B League- be sure you are ready for it. if not you will get drubbed and then will sell very few tickets

I agree with that.
Anyway instead of switching bot teams for a new ones to give a chance to play against those bots for excellent teams from C-division from 2nd places. For a devs is not too hard to create another admin option for that, which be enabled only at the end of the season ("manual pair maker").

Before ridiculing him you might try to understand what he wrote. He never wanted to promote from the second place if he doesn't deserve it. What he points out is the great disparity between C-leagues. As a result very weak teams from weak C-leagues get to the playoffs while much, much stronger teams from other C-leagues don't.

j23,
what are the playoffs for? relegation/promotion. i would think that he would want to be included in the playoff so that he could promote.
what did I write that ridiculed him?
'just work hard and train correctly'? hardly
'be top of tables next season and there will be several managers in 2nd who are cursing you!' no
'as to promoting to B League- be sure you are ready for it' NADA
'if not you will get drubbed and then will sell very few tickets' - just a fair warning

OK, you're not ridiculing him, just LOL-ing at him. But I was referring to islander and ivysafety, too. Sorry if I didn't make it clear.

Yeah, there's a huge disparity alright. You've got leagues that absolutely suck, and those who only suck a lot.
Bottom line, if he can't win the toughest C league he's got little shot at breaking even in a B league.
