Subject: Really dumb system

2008-09-08 20:12:03
Yeah, there's a huge disparity alright. You've got leagues that absolutely suck, and those who only suck a lot.

Bottom line, if he can't win the toughest C league he's got little shot at breaking even in a B league.

do you suggest something like random shuffling of teams at the end of seasons? that'd spoil any kind of rivalry etc...
2008-09-08 20:13:40
rivalries? in C league?

not sure there are any. actually. I take that back. I had one :)

And how do you know that if a manager never had a shot at a B-league? I'm sure I'd be competitive for 3-4th place in many B-leagues, but for a second season I am stuck in a C-league behind a team that is better than me and doesn't want to promote (seriously, he played his reserve squad in the promotion game last season and obviously lost). OK, I've got rotten bad luck, but this doesn't change the fact that the rules of promotion allow for such great disparities to continue.

Rivalries, with whom? Bots?
2008-09-08 20:21:59
I don't think random shuffling would be a solution, but some kind of wildcard system, where the best teams from second places also get to the playoffs can be devised, I'm sure. But we've discussed this before, didn't we :-))

So you think > then 4 teams should get relegated or face quali match?

listen, some ideas are valid. some ideas are not...
there are many 2nd place teams that are better than 1st place teams. heck, there are some 3rd place teams better then some 1st place teams. but you can not redo the entire system based on some percieved flaws.

I've proposed a solution before, but it was rejected then. The problems are coming back, though.

Compress C-leagues to 32 instead of 64. Two best teams from every league get to the playoffs and otherwise the rules stay the same. This way you also solve the problem of players in C-leagues playing mostly bots and you will create rivalries that you like so much.

The number of players in the US does not justify keeping 64 C-leagues. In Poland the ratio of the number of Klasa A leagues (their lowest division) to Liga VI (second lowest) is 2:1. Why can't we have it the same way?

when I was in the c league's I actually promoted by getting 2nd place and playing a qualification match :>

It used to be the way you are saying, 32 c leagues first place autopromotion and 2nd place got a quali...

Spangles.
2008-09-09 00:19:30
that is actually not true..

now someone mentioned baseball. why did he do that? baseball SUCKS!!!!

discobolo and j23 have good points. the system should be improved.

it is funny to hear from B or A leaguers all these stupid comments. I guess since you guys managed to advance in a bad system then the system should stay untouched?

if everybody thought that things should stay the way they are cause they managed to survive we would still be in the middle ages
2008-09-09 00:21:18
I actually liked the system of when I was in the c league's ;)

first place got an automatic promotion and 2nd place got a qualification match :)

I dont think we can just go from 64 leagues to 32 though.. quackamole knows more about this :)
2008-09-09 00:22:55
Regardless of the system, if you cant autopromote or win your qualification game you don't deserve to be in a B series.

Fairly simple really
2008-09-09 00:38:59
i've always agreed with that, though i can understand the frustration of some of the c league guys who are watching new teams get dropped in to b league and they don't get a chance to promote because they can't beat the one team in front of them every season...
