Subject: Bargain?
yeah, i definitely disagree with you on that one... an excellent or formidable coach for 10-14k plus 10 - 14 spots for a total of 25-30k a week is all you need in c league and you will get youths who are useful to a c league coach. i pulled several players while in c league who turned out to be very profitable in the end. a very good or excellent player with mediocre distribution can be very very useful to a c league manager who doesn't have the same profitable trainee sales as an established manager.

solid junior coach is a waste of your money. I tried something similar when I first started in C and ended up shutting the YS down for two seasons until I was sure of my promotion to B.
so i should wait til i get promoted to B before i start up the JS?
im wondering if it is just a black hole that sucks all my money away... =/

the junior school is a bit of a lottery. one good junior and it pays for your school for several seasons.
i definitely disagree with the idea of not having a junior school. you can get some decent cash flow from juniors...which is what kept me out of bankruptcy in C-league. i only kept about 10-12 slots open, though. i would add that a junior coach lower than excellent is a waste. my graduates weren't worth a whole lot until my coach reached that level.
wow....how do you afford to have a coach excellent or better with 10-12 slots open though?
the sponsorship money that comes in every week is less than sustainable...

sponsorship money goes up as you progress to a bigger league. You are also playing better teams, so you will receive more money from home games etc..
Also, if you have a player that if you were to pull from your school of about formidable skill and has decent age/skill distribution... you can rake in decent money by selling him.

.....so have 4 juniors right now.... a small stadium... haha im screwed.
for juniors
adequate: 7 weeks
good: 8 weeks
average: 10 weeks
solid: 17 weeks
i take it none of those are considered good prospects...

depends on their talent.
but i afforded my coach and school because i was able to generate cash from junior sales, and some established player sales as they got too old. matter of fact, i still afford it that way. brilliant coach, 20 slots :D

should operate at a negative every year. make money with trainee sells at the start of the year. have enough enough the bank to last the year and then do it all over again. if you are making money on a weekly basis you're really not doing enough to get better.
What kept me out of bankruptcy in the C-league was frequent trading. I spent a lot of time on the TL looking for young players. Of course I couldn't afford top talent, but some of them were decent enough. I trained them a little and as soon as they popped some important skill, sold them for a profit. The turnover in the team was high and I lost a bit on tactical discipline and all that, but my team kept improving... It's a surer way to improve your team than the junior school. Yeah, if you are lucky you'll get a solid 16yo pull that will sell for a million, but more likely your juniors will be crap and you could invest the little money you have better in your trainees.
yeah. i did that too. i went through a lot of possible $1-100 players finding skill and talent. i still have 6 of them who have really developed and blossomed. some of the developed ones i traded for a profit. about equal profit came from juniors sold straight out of school, or at the end of that season. there is probably a bunch of different ways to make it work. right now, i am building up again, so i am flirting with negative cash again. :)
The youth school can be a sinkhole for a new team. I shut mine down when I was in C league, that was like 2-3 RL years ago thou. I don't know how much different it is now. IMO, giving a new team a season or 2 before investing in a excellent/formidable youth coach and 10-15 slots would probably help a team more than it would hurt them.
i can agree--to a point. i would add that having a ys before promoting would be a good thing. my biggest mistake was starting one immediately. my biggest success was learning from my mistake and growing to the point it was a benefit.
well I'm relatively new here myself, but I have a few seasons under my belt. From what I can recall, I ran my JS with an excellent coach and 6 slots for my first 2 seasons. Not much profit, just enough to make sure I could get by with the sale or 2. When I got to B league, I expanded my school to 15 slots and Outstanding JC. Still haven't really made a profit this season, but in the next 10-12 weeks, I'll be sending out quite a few juniors who have been in my school since week 1 of last season. As of a few weeks ago, I upgraded to a brilliant JC, and I can say that I have loved it, although no one has come out yet. =[
But as of now, my JS is full. 15/15 with an average rating of good. I have 2 guys who are right now, "excellent" who still have 10 weeks left a piece. I have another 3-4 guys who are at VG with more than 10 weeks left, so once you get it to a point where you are happy, all it takes is patience.
