Once again here I am! Congrats to the USA for making it to Round 1 this past season, however it was sad to watch us lose to our neighbors Mexico. Vote me in for coach and I will take as many rounds into the World Cup!

I've probably already answered any questions you're going to ask in the past times I've run but feel free to re-state them and I'll give you my answer again.

Vote for me! Even if you don't think I'll make us win too much (which I will), I won't make us lose any ground. And if you aren't satisfied with me (you will be) you don't have to vote for me again!

Cheers!

how do you intend to do this?
2009-04-28 16:25:16
Hey! the llama promoted!
2009-04-28 21:15:00
Yes I did promote :)

As for how do I intend to do this, I intend to use my tactics to get ahead. There are little tricks you find after watching games and not only do I watch all of my games I've also watched all the USA games. I think the other candidates will simply play tactics more according to real soccer rather than an online soccer where certain positions are more important than others. Little things such as making sure there's someone to throw the ball in to that's open are key tactics that I believe will put us ahead
2009-04-29 17:15:15
so your evaluation of competitor or previous NT coach's tactics are showing you that most coaches of that calibur neglect things such as throw-in placement?
2009-04-30 21:41:44
I'm simply stating I think their tactics are mundane and predictable. Look at some of the teams that have taken the US down hard and you'll see some interesting moves like crazy stacking one side or tactics I can't even explain without u looking at them. I think in this abstract way too and I can give the US victory through unique tactics, rather than the boring tactics we use now

I guess if nobody has questions then I must be the best candidate with perfect tactics
2009-05-09 17:02:30
As a measuring tool I tend to look at how high a candidates team is in terms of league, and number of seasons for determining experience Thats essentially what I base my decision on. Obviously there are other factors but I am lazy:)

Why should I vote for a candidate that needed 6-7 seasons to establish himself in B-league?

In my opinion a NT coach should have some MLS experience and at least play in A-league.

And why are you not in A-league yet? and dont cry ""my league was the toughest of all the leagues...."
2009-05-09 19:28:17
First off, I've been in B league for 3 seasons. I'm not claiming anything about being in the hardest league as I'm sure there are harder ones. However, for the past few seasons the top guy has been the one who promotes into 8th place in the A league because he is so good that he doesn't need a qualifier. It hasn't been worth it to try and qualify or put my team at risk of debt when I can't win 1st.

Next off I am claiming my coaching to be better, not my financial skills and ability to outbid on players. Account balance: 6 640 006 $ As you can see I have a nice sum of money that I just am still undecided on what to spend on. I could upgrade my team pretty nicely with that.

I think the whole league argument is flawed. You don't have to have the best tactics if you are really good at buying a better team than someone else. However when it comes to the USA NT, the players are already there and it's all about who can coach the best.

I hope that answers your questions

you dont have to be a business guru to get to A-league, its not that hard. Decent skilled players and good tactics would do it.

And your lack of presence in A-league rings a warning bell to me.

Clarification: For me, an established B-league team dont need to play relegation games, (1st to 4th place) and you are not even there yet.

..However, i do agree with you on the fact that as long as the financial aspect of the game is played properly, the tactics can be somewhat secondary.

..but,

What 4 skills do u consider most important for wingers? Why?
How do you stop a team that is playing with 1 wide winger and changes the side randomly?
2009-05-09 22:00:24
I respect your view on the league situation but I haven't done enough financially to get in a position to get into the A-league.

I ask you rather look at my answers for tactics and decide based on that.

4 skills most important for wingers? Well that question has lots of answers because it's situational imo.

Pace is obviously good for a winger to have, especially if their wings aren't heavily guarded or they have slower defenders as our wingers will then wreck them. However, if our wingers our too fast and our strikers aren't as fast, we'll be crossing balls into empty space with none of our guys there. To counter this we could simply get faster strikers or just tactically push them further up.

Technical is a good skill to have when they don't have the best defense on their wingers. When a winger is chasing another winger down they have to have 3 levels of defense higher than our technical player to be successful in stripping the ball. Therefore I think this would answer our question about a team that is playing a wide winger. If we too countered with a wide winger that had amazing technical and defense, he could strip the ball and not be stripped and it would counter perfectly.

Continuing with the last point, defense is important imo as it can help maintain possession of the ball if for some reason they are getting run down. this is especially important if I can't find a winger with as much pace so I would substitute this skill in for that. I guess that still counts as a 3rd skill so only 1 more now.

Finally, goalkeeping!!!

but seriously, I would have to say passing. I see a winger for being a winger. Especially if they play a wide winger, our winger will be out wide and that means lots of crosses and passes into the box.

I think these are the most important skills because:
stamina: well hopefully they would have decent stamina...but we can sub if needed
playmaking: they will be too far out to need a huge amount of this
striker: we have a player called a striker for a reason
goalkeeping: silly winger, you don't belong in the goal!
2009-05-09 22:05:32
playmaker would be the ability to read runs by the strikers/central mids into the area would it not??

Otherwise, with low playmaker, he plays the ball into empty space but a defender can pick that ball up before one of our strikers/central mid... wasted opportunity.

When you face Nt teams of any level, especially in the final group that is about to start, you will be facing "Angry" Defenders, with very high Defense and Pace.

Just take a look at everyUSA players that are for sale right now. They are 26-30YO and most of them with magical-Divine pace and Defense
2009-05-09 22:12:43
Defending and Pace are my interchangeables. Now that I think about it more I agree playmaking is important for the winger. was just trying to keep it at 4 skills

Just trying to have a more open mind. Anyone can say PM, pace, tech, passing. I think adding in the def element makes it kinda unique and at the same time proves a good point of how it defends on positioning and conditions. I still think PM is not the MOST important as wingers are about creating chances and keeping possession and they will be able to create more with other skills.

I'm always open to feedback, thanks for that
