Subject: offsides!?

so, can someone tell me this... i'm not a huge soccer person. and don't have all the rules down, but this game seems to say that offsides is called anytime the defender marking an attacker is in front. i though it was the last man on defense? i've been called for it many times before and every time there is another defender behind my attacker, and though its not the guy marking my attacker, i thought that that was all that matters...

little help here?

Offsides is when your player is behind all the players on the other team other than the goalie when the ball is passed to the player. The key is when the ball is kicked. And the match engine calls the offsides late so the defenders have a chance to get back if they are faster than your offensive players, so it looks like your guy is not offsides, but when the ball was kicked your player was in an offside position.

Agreed.
I used to swear at my sokker yelling that NO WAY my striker was offsides.....but every time I replay the game I find out that indeed the striker is every so much offsides when the ball was kicked...

there's also display issues every once in a WHILE. Don't go using a ruler, monitors aren't accurate to the milimeter.

You will find tho, as dennis54 mentions, that almost every time the display is indeed even indicative of correctness of the call.

There's no "official error" in the match engine. It's a calculation. The player is offsides when it's called :)
