I have 2 Brilliant and 1 Incredible assistants, and my JS coach is Brilliant.
Overkill?
What do you recommend?
I've been pretty happy with the skill increases that I have been getting, and I have been operating in the Black, but that might change now that I have lost about 20 fans in the past three weeks.

haha! I played here a while back, quit, and recently decided to return. So, I'm really low on the pole here, and realize you all are much more "sokker intelligent" than I, but I agree that especially starting out, assistant coaches are overrated and completely unnecessary.
I also decided to not have a juniors program until I can afford to get at least an outstanding coach. So, I only employ a head coach with unearthly in what I'm training right now. Once I've flipped a few players, and have some income from fans, I'll start expanding my coaching staff (AFTER I get a new crop of trainees).

no one has said that assistants are unnecessary. You are currently working down a path where you will never get better.
Wrong. I work at a deficit every week. I finance the deficit with trainee sales that I improve with good coaches.
three good-solid assistants will only set you back 10k a week, not having assistants at all is a bad idea. ive just always felt paying 15k more per assistant per week for only 2 levels difference for higher level assistants when general training is tiny compared to primary training isnt worth it, which is contrary to what a lot of people do
but what do i know ive only won 20 of my last 21 ML games

I'm only referring to starting out. I don't think that the extra 10k a week, to not have much chance of random pops (with only "good" coaches) is worthless. Once I've got the roster that has decently talented trainees, that's when I'll spring for assistants....but paying for assistants in my first half season, when most of my roster is worthless is a waste of cash....imo
nice to see you back Josh. sounds like you are applying the lessons of old.
You win because you are good at tactics. I spend way more on coaches than you do, and have NEVER been short of money.
starting out you should have 3 good or solid coaches.
I doubt that there's a single successful manager here who would disagree.
10k per week is nothing.
