I was thinking about starting a thread for mentees. They would post in it, saying "I'd like a mentor," then one of you sexy experienced managers would say, "I'll take him." What do you think?
I will share an idea which we used in Eesti some time ago.
Firstly someone should be the hotshot who appoints a mentor for every user, who asks one. Secondly you collect as much volunteers as mentors as you need. Then you will start to send mails to every new registered user (can find them in stats page), where you welcome them and say if you want we can give you a mentor. And if the new user asks for mentor, then you will give him one.

i made a mentor association for new guys who show great interest by buying plus immediately, that way i know they wont just quit after finely grooming them
I'm already doing the "Welcome Note" thing. The stats page is much better than what guac was doing (nice to have a better method). I can keep that up. And, in case anyone is wondergin, here is the note I send to every new team:
Good to have you with us. I hope you have as much fun at this as my kids (griffin_slayer and nut101) and I do.
If you would like someone to help you get started, contact benmor78. He`s running the mentor program.
Good luck!
The thing we still need to solve is getting people to open those notes. So far, only about 1/3 are getting opened...which tells me a lot of new registrants either never log in again, or don't open their mail before they quit. I did have one idea...Is there a way to get a new users welcome note to show on their home page the first say week after they are activated? Or maybe for the first 3 log ins? or something to get atention and fold them into the US community? it may be a programming nightmare...or not.
thoughts?

Ya, I also have sent notes to new players that have both come into my league and my friends leagues. I have only had one response out of about 5 messages and 3 have never been looked at which tells me they arent logging in after they get their teams. It sucks but I am sure this is a problem lots of online games like this have.
