Lakay [del] to All
Trogdor (not in the ML but...)

He seriously spanked the ML for a long time with "out of this world" strikers balanced with high quality Midfielders. He never changed tactics but managed to get high quality outfielders and GK through good money management. I don't think he can repeat his dominance again, the ML has changed since he demoted to rebuild his team.
He might prove me wrong but that's part of the fun.

Fro

He seems to have found and understanding on what makes wingers click. With only one striker he'll tare apart 5 defenders easily. I have not been able to find a defense that stops him (until our next match in a couple weeks). I follow his team and steals what I can tactically from him. He also scouts what other users are doing.

Myself

For a long time I relied on superior, unstoppable strikers but I can testify that you will not win the ML that way. I upgraded my team defensively and in the midfield but I still
need to figure out what makes the wingers click (I will eventually). My team is old but I upgrade every year. I will sell a 27 yo and buy a better 26 yo. My youth pulls and my 60K stadium keeps me afloat financially. I will have to train a new generation of strikers soon and I only train USA Strikers. The only other player that I watch before a game is Fro. I play a 4:4:2 with a DM and a withdrawn forward that supports central midfield. Playing with 3 defenders against some of the ML wingers is a guaranteed loss.

Enforcers

He won the ML with top defenders and the right tactic. He'll frustrate the best strikers in the world and for a long time the games between him, Fro and myself had to be decided by luck. Now he's rebuilding his team and could demote after this season.

Vovo

Play with 3 defenders against him and he will destroy you. He also possesses the "winger" knowledge and have used low quality strikers to prove his winger dominance.
He has to upgrade strikers and defense to challenge for the ML title.

Dio

Plays with 3 defenders in the back but he's getting the results(How!?). He defeated my team early this season and killed my ML challenge. I can't put my finger on his tactic but it's working (I'll be testing it soon).

In General:
- No one position (striker, mids, defs) dominates for an extended period of time.
- Now is "Winger time" until everyone figures out how to stop them or learns what makes them click.
- When the teams are at the same level, the games are decided by luck (like in real life).
- High tech skills and a sound tactic can still make a difference. Many top managers train tech regularly.

Hope this helps!

Beware of the Blues Brothers. They will be the next up and coming team.

Please ignore smirker as I am not a good tactician

I continue to stink at tactics.
2009-07-22 22:26:45
and yet none of you have a shiny star.
2009-07-23 00:32:28
umm...shiney stars? aren't those the falling ones that make giant craters on impact? oh...wait...those are comets...
2009-07-23 01:11:59
maybe theres a pattern to that =D

I'm not really trying to rebuild anything. Ive played without a keeper or with my B team several times this season...and forgot to get a friendly match for a good 4 or 5 weeks in a row.

I might try a comeback later though...im sitting on around 30 million cash so I could probably patch up a decent team.

Demote all the way to C-League and try to get to the ML in 3 seasons and win it in your first season there.

I will call you "King Billy" if you do.
2009-07-29 16:02:15
I might just do that haha. Just dont over analyse the tactic that still hasnt changed in years.

ull have a tough time, ur already falling behind losing lots of money from sponsors every week just being in a league, but feel free to try =P
2009-07-29 17:46:01
with that much money in the bank he should make it...
2009-07-29 18:14:25
just saying hed have a lot less money the longer it takes. i get 315k a week, and im pretty sure its at least ~75k less per week in A, and 125k+ less in b
(edited)
2009-07-29 18:55:50
even less than you think. i'm above average i b and i get around 145k. from what i've been able to gather "good teams" in average leagues sponsor money is...
c- 40k
b- 140k
a- 230k
ml- 325k

while those aren't exact because of all the variables involved, like i said, but its a rough estimate that prolly undershoots the amounts if anything.
2009-07-29 19:12:35
ml average is probably 290-300, i got 316 last friday and usually get 10k less for each level under
2009-07-29 21:33:26
It is a hard comparison to make though. Money lost from sponsers / attendance versus the money saved by not having to fight to maintain a competitive team for a while. I doubt I'll do anything though. I havent even fired up match viewer since I won the ML last.
