Subject: State Championship Tournaments.

This is a new idea I would like to share. How about playing annual tournaments for each state? It will take a while before we see anything conclusive but I want to start it with organizing New York State Championship next season.

It would be nice to hear your opinions and perhaps some mangers will be willing to create an elimination system for their respective states. I came up with idea for New York - more details can be found in Friendlies forum.

I am trying to encourage everybody to join in and give it a try next season. The most important characteristics of New York State Tournament is that it will not interfere with US Open Cup or NSW in any way and will allow to let any team participate in the cup for as long as possible.

Anybody interested?

i know there are a lot of us in texas and think that would be a lot of fun. if we could 6-7 teams in i think it would fit in nice after the Cup is over.

sounds good to me. a little friendly "civil war" never hurt anyone...much...

there is a nice size group of us in New Orleans that would be interested (6-7)...a good range too, from 3100-2000 ranking

So far, only 3 interested team from NY. I am going to send some personal invitations shortly.

Go to Friendlies USA forum, New York State Championship topic and add your team's name to the list. So should do anybody else from NY who wants to participate.

There are only 3 users from WV and I do not even know who the other 2 managers are at this time. Anyone know who they might be?

Could it be better to have the division by the region rather than the state in the future?
In that way we can accommodate states who do not have too many users.

This is not a good idea. It will be too many teams for the North-East region, for example.

I know North-East region is too big to handle effectively. But perhaps a couple of smaller states (or three) paired together.
At this moment I like the idea of big states (New York, Texas, California) playing separately. Let's see what happens next season.

i think the idea of big states alone and other regionally is good. how do we work out a playoff situation?
