I was joking cause we all have no idea of anybody's talent.

what was Freddy Adu's youth school talent again?

I don't know what you all whining about, its the same for everyone. Its fair, deal with it.

Freddy Adu???

Dude, that's the most bizarre example you could have given. Like many African players, Adu had his birth certificate changed, so that he looks more appealing to the clubs. Actually at my university there was a guy from Ghana who knows his family. In some casual conversation about soccer, I mentioned Adu and he told me the story about him, he said that he is actually 6 years older than it is claimed!

Yeah he was supposedly a wonderkid when he was 12, but he was actually 18. Any solid 18 years old soccer player is gonna dominate 12 years old kids. Of course fast forward to present and what was a physically dominant player at supposedly 12 is physically average today. Here's the funny thing that the guy mentioned to me - he asked how comes that he hasn't grown a centimeter from the time he was 12 till today when he's 20???

Btw the change in the junior school sucks big time.

How is joking considered whining in your book?
2010-02-01 23:44:13
Thats exactly why I used that example, not that I knew the whole story, but that everyone thought he was going to be a superstar.

The top half of the comment was directed at you. The rest was a general comment.

Sorry. The Adu thing threw me. I was trying to remember if someone actually had a stud junior with that name, or you were talking about the actual person. Whatever, I'm eating a chicken burrito.

What were all of Arsene Wenger' s juniors talent?

Yeah, he knew how to raise them, so they did become great players.

It's not just grooming young players, he's been buying the most talented young players for a long time. If it was just raising them, than you would have a lot of 1st team players in Arsenal that went through all the youth categories, which is not the case. Instead he's spending millions on buying 16, 17 years old wonderkids (I mean real wonderkids, not guys like Adu) and then he develops them into the world class players.

i think Wenger thinks of a talented junior in a slightly different way to normal people

Barcelona has the best junior system in the world. They sign kids when they are 12, raise them, train them, and then either promote them or sell them. I think we are all trying to emulate their system.
