Subject: USA Future Stars, What to Do?

With the new Season coming i want to change the requirements about the New Stars Thread, because with the new Junior system, talent is a variable more than before. I put some of my thoughts in this poll, but of course is up for discussion with the community. So if you choose "other" please specify your idea.
Phil just showed us that even a small Sokker country like USA can get to the glory, so i like to keep the best young players in this thread.

This thread is to decide how to select the requirements. Any player post will be delete it.

I picked the 3rd option.

I understood it as different skill sums for each 18, 17 and 16.

But what should be the level. I was thinking around 48, stamina included for a 18yo. a little more for a 19-20 yo, and a little less for 16-17yo.

i might included at least 1 skill@very good or do you think it is set too high???

I think we should lower our standards a bit. Get the thread a little more active, I say. I think the standards should be low enough to include anyone with a realistic chance of contributing to the U21 Squad. I would not include stamina in the skill sum.


Maybe get rid of the old way of thinking all together and just keep a running total of the top 15-20 players of each age. The roll call can handle all the youth pulls. Keeping 2 threads for the same purpose isn't needed with the lack of activity.

Let me try to explain myself a little further.

The problem with picking out a skill sum or a junior level is it doesn't take into account which week of season we are in. An 18 yo incredible is a real nice pull at the beginning of the season, but at the end of the season you better hope for a 18 yo Magical/unearthly pull to get the same player.(depending on talent)


Also we never do a follow up on any of the future stars.

I'd be willing to start a thread to track NT defenders? Keep it updated like the Best of forums but strictly for USA players. Would make it easier to keep track of them and periodically SK-mail the ones that aren't updated?

you can use the NT forum.

from my experience as NT coach. it will be very hard to make users update players. And you will be tired of doing it after a while. I still have my database that used when i was scouting u21 players and DAg is still sending the updates, but i stop updating it for lack of will

We can create it in the Nt forum as i said.

I stopped sending you updates weeks ago. The database is more up to date then ever. With the new Osokker program its very easy and helps gives me all the info I could want in a simple format.
