That's why you train defending on your strikers

so when you get a redcard, you can drop a striker into that back position and he is adequate to defend plus you don't open any slots because in reality dropping a forward and putting in a forward is probably what would happen.

So you train defending on your strikers? Now I know, why you're stuck in a lowly B-league.

But seriously, if you want to have a striker who makes a dent in the opponents defense in A-league or ML, you need to have at least incredible pace, technique and striking. To have that striker being useful as a substitute defender, he would also need incredible defending. Good luck with finding that (there is no striker like that on the TL at the moment).

My striker has all that you said and very good defending :)

which works enough in B league, i guess at higher levels you'll want better defending sure

but in that case couldn't you just sub out your attacked and then sub in another defender?

Good question! Can you? How would that conditional order look like?
2010-08-12 20:47:40
fairly certain it requires 2 orders to do that. You'd have to put the subsititute in first then move the player?
2010-08-12 20:59:16
yea when you get a red card you switch a defender in for your forward

then you make the position change in your 2nd order from forward to defender

I'd assume that would work?

I tried to move a defensive MF is the position of the red carded defender and another MF in the position of the defensive MF ... and it did not work with both having the condition "Red Card or No Player".

To bring in a player from the bench, you would need a condition that is based on the placement of a player in a new position, which does not exist.

Any other ideas?

This is my current DCM that I have with orders to play on the back line if any of my defenders get red cards.

Matthis Ghyse
formidable [11] stamina tragic [0] keeper
magical [15] pace incredible [13] defender
outstanding [12] technique excellent [10] playmaker
incredible [13] passing excellent [10] striker

And isn't always a case of tackling the ball clean from the player. Even with a formidable defender if you can slow him down or make him dribble just a little bit in a different direction one of the other defenders will be able to help out in my defense.

I am not saying it is amazing, but it has helped me quite a few times in games.

I have a guy like that with the same task in case of a red card. But then you have a big gaping hole in the midfield that can be very harmful (for instance in case of throw ins).

Your tactic is much different than mine but I have never had many problems. My defnders take care of most of my throw in issues other than a couple locations. But I literally only am susceptible to throw ins on one side and in 2 specific locations. So it is minimal for me. But that is purely because of difference in tactics.

I can see looking at yours why your midfield would be opened up completely with the loss of a defender and moving your midfielder into the red carder players location.

I forgot to change my line up and played the 1st team :(

I'm out of the Cup!
2010-09-02 14:44:13
Wanna be a Nudnick? :)
2010-09-02 18:13:50
Dang it, how can I keep winning? All I really want is to be a Nudnick. I finally got a tough match up next week tho.
2010-09-03 00:04:09
A Nudnick I am! I'm not sure I want to know what it means :)

Nudnicks rule, baby. Burton, you are a wanna be. True Nudnicks suck in the Cup.

PS Kicking it off this afternoon - sent a few emails that haven't been read yet to the usual suspects.
