Subject: [NT] vs Nederland
Next week we play group leader Ceska
If we win: we advance if Scotland doesn't win or it comes down to GD if they do.
If we Draw: We advance with a Scotland loss
If we lose: and Scotland losses its a 3 way tie that we most likely don't advance.
Nothing against the Scots, I'll be cheering for the Dutch.

If anyone cares, this is what the Dutch manager had to say about the match
Schepel to Balthier
Whatever... Early red card decided the match last week and now we just randomly lose again. I just can't believe it. The Dutch players are more than just a little bit better than the American players, but you would believe otherwise after you've seen this match. Defenders with high tech just can't control the ball. A triple superdivine striker couldn't get past a single def. In fact, he got tackled from behind over and over again. One of the best wingers in this game, Boers, decided he liked to pass the ball backwards. Nenver mind moving towards the opposing goal or anything half as smart as that. Despite all this nonsense, each team got 5 chances. 1-0 for the USA. Exit for the Dutch squad. Yet again. I'm officially the worst NT coach ever.

Comments will come tonight
Great win Dag, definitely needed that one

you said that last week as well about comments but you didnt even give any. tsk shame on you - you only comment when usa win is it? ;) kiddin
Llamas are slow, foul smelling, dirty disgusting creatures. and are direct descendants of the Jack ass.
:P
:P
School started up again last week so it was a really busy time trying to get everything together. On top of that, the game not switching our players after the red cards leaving the whole wing open kind of ruined it in my opinion. It was pretty fair and then after all that happened I can't really leave comments to criticize.
Anyways, little slow here but hopefully you can find some value
Alrighty a little bit late but here are my comments for the USA-Nederland match
3' - easy through ball for them, left a pretty big hole there when the defender pushed up.
9' - Boo, he dove for that yellow card
11' - Gotta be more careful on those throw ins. I've seen way too many goals from throw in crosses. But coming back from later in the game you were pretty close, I know it can be hard to guess exactly where they are going to throw the ball to so at least you had the sides covered somewhere.
I kind of like the tight formation that I've seen a lot of NT's play, I think it really helps take advantage of mistcontrolled balls by both teams
21' - Oh come on you have to put that away! or the follow up!
25' - nice ball through right there, our strikers are really finding the open gaps
29' - Top of the box pressure was a little late there
30' - OMG...that scared the crap out of me
On a lot of their crosses it doesn't seem like we defended well enough. They had a crap load
like just now as I type this in th 33' of balls through for headers. Thank goodness Bogan made some spectacular saves.
Also a quick constructive criticism I would have is I think we could use some more offensive throw in positions. It looked like a lot of the time when we were in their half the ball wouldn't be thrown forward to get a quick cross or anything but rather just towards the middle to try and work it up again. Personally I prefer those one touch crosses the wingers will do because from what I've seen they generally give a pretty good chance at scoring.
I think the tactics are getting close in a lot of places, but there's still some things like the defensive line that need some work. Like I understand the pushing a guy up while the others drop for cover, but at times this game there were points where two central defenders would push up towards the ball and leave a HUGE gap for a forward and a through ball. A lot of the time their team failed to make a good pass so our wingbacks could cover it, but if they would get the ball in a good position that could really be trouble. Just a suggestion, maybe have only 1 central defender (the middle one in this case) be a guy who pushes up towards the ball for pressure while the others drop. This way we can still keep a defense that can cover better
65' - GOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLL
78' - You get that chance and you call that a shot? that was pitiful Patterson! That attack did show the power of the stack though, always a favorite of mine :)
89' - Wow that scared me and I knew what the final result was too lol
Good game Dag, very nice win over a better team. I don't think their coach can make any excuses because honestly that game we matched them up. It's not like they pounded 20 shots and didn't score, 5 each and we had maybe a tiny bit of luck/awesome saves on our side.
Oh, and I resent that comment about Llamas

it will be interesting match ;-) good luck
You comments are always fun to read
Comments like this show your experience, and I don't mean this in a bad way.

As for your suggestion... Your asking me to fix something out of my control
The gaps are caused by differences in Pace, PM, form, TD and Height(edit: and stamina!). If I had 5 defenders that had the same skills you may see a perfectly straight back line. (Yes, that means I never pushed a defender up)
The Llama comment was a joke, really disappointed here as I thought you would spend more time defending Llama's.

Oh I'm working on my defense for the llamas, it isn't just going to be a small work, it gets a whole new topic later.
As for what you say I'm asking to fix that's out of your control, I believe maybe we misunderstand each other on my comment.
I'm saying lets say they bring the ball up the middle of the field, our 4 defenders on the outside continue to drop while the middle on pressures the ball, so there's a tiny gap but that's okay because we have close cover. Then they pass the ball 90 degrees to the right, now our second inner defender steps up while the others keep dropping back. This opens up a huge hole in the middle because 2/3 central defenders have stepped up. My suggestion is that it somehow be setup so that when the ball makes slight changes in it's location, we don't get caught without a central defense.

Yeah thats not the way I understood what you wrote. I guess its a good thing I was using 5 defenders against 1 winger and 1 striker.
Llama's = bad

yay Bogan. And Bosh, still got it :P
Bogan still training :)
