Subject: So who wants to be my tactics manager?

Since my rant was for the most part a complete waste of time, mostly because I knew that nothing was going to be done about it and the needed improvements as I saw them, were not going to come, I am going to try to approach this from another angle.

Last night was kinda the straw that broke the camel's back. Played a team that I outmarked by 4.5 points and despite losing one of my wingers in the 7th minute (thank you stupid, stupid, stupid red card happy game play) with no disrespect to my opponent who has a very fine team and is likely without question a much much better tactician than I am, just see no way in hell I should ever be losing 8-2. Again, it's just completely unrealistic to me and makes me want to stop playing this game but I figured that maybe I'd give the game one more shot if there is someone out there who wants to help me.

So here is the offer. You will have complete and total carte blanche as to the tactics of my team, to do with as you see fit. I'll be happy to listen to input as to personnel as well, both on who should start where as well as possible purchases to help improve the team.

i am just hesitant to help out with the tactics of a 60+ marking team for self preservation reasons

Just because a team has a higher rating, does not mean it is a higher skilled team. Some skills get better rating then others, some skills increase the ratings of players at certain positions without having an affect on the game.

I am very happy that ratings do not determine the games, I would be having a very crappy season if that was the case.

My tactic sucks empirically, a factor unrelated to the superiority (or lack thereof) of your tactic.

PS I am not sure your conclusion is accurate, its relevance notwithstanding, given our most recent match.

Our first match this season I win 4-2 despite you having nearly 2 1/2 ratings point advantage

second match you win 4-2 with nearly 5 1/2 ratings point advantage.

And THIS makes you the better tactician?

Ahhh. You like the ratings point thing. I thought your post a while ago meant that you didn't give those numbers much credence.

I myself ignore those ratings - you could have a 3x divine striker in unsatisfactory form that has 15 points lower scores than the same damn player used the same damn way in the same damn tactics in divine form. The tactics don't control his rating. His performance doesn't control his rating. His form does. I mean, I've had divine keepers get 15 ratings in Cup matches because THEY DIDN'T SEE A SHOT.

Here's an example. I had the best keeper in the US. He got a 40 in a Cup match 6 months ago. The next week, he got a 96.

Since this is such a nice discussion, I'll counter your argument with.

I have a history of winning matches against better rated teams(and probably higher skilled) at the NT level, U21 level, ML level and A league. And you have...... smelly gas.

Ahhh. You've been talking to Guacadork. He claims everything about me smells like butt, above and beyond my gastrointestinal emissions. I dispute the claim. My gas smells like flowers on a spring morning. Marigolds, even.

To get this back on Jefe's topic (if such is possible) - I refuse to help you with tactics, but am happy to help you with your roster, to the extent that you wish (like I do) to succeed in this game DESPITE tactical ineptitude.

To everyone: concentrate on defense, and if your strikers/wingers if you use them, are always in the same spot....well thats easy to defend.

I had some help fixing that old 3 defender nonsense. Given the match engine here, I should probably be playing 5-4-1 with 5 getting mid orders, but I am too lazy to change my tactics more than flipping them randomly from side to side.
