DOH! I could have sworn it used to be that it was bad business to build a roof and then expand?

I guess that it costs more to expand a section that already has a roof?

Newcommers:

Take my advice and expand by 1000 seatings increments and focus on winning to sell out your stadium.

I'd hold on to my money and use it elsewhere, not a good investment in this game.

A stadium is a good way to keep the books balanced and avoid debt though.

Not prudent for more recent teams. You have a bigger margin to cover and investing in your stadium is an absolute waste.

Stadium: Winning, building your stadium and promoting is the only way you will afford better coaches.

Top notch coaches and talented players are the fundamental elements of my plan. I share this with you because, if we all do this USA will be stronger in Sokker!

Not with the configuration of the stadium in this game.

More better built stadiums = more money in the SK economy though.

How does that concern me when I'm the one getting screwed?
2006-07-21 20:36:28
What makes you say that anyway?

If you start building seats and benches in the right places, an improve stadium brings in a fair bit of money.

The amount you get from terraces and standing places is "trivial" really though. You can't moan about stadium money when your stadium isn't optomised.

Although I do need to check again as I initially checked when I joined and I just remember it was so horrible I'd not expand my stadium for a very long time.

And so I did :). I can moan when there's no compelling reason to expand my stadium although it's filled to capacity all the time. Not when you're a more recent manager. Maybe after the pending bonuses I'll make an expansion as my team is becoming more stable, but if you're a newbie, don't even think about. Ditch that stadium. Go for the transfer market, coaching, and youths, it doesn't pay off.

I think you can be effective by making money either through a good training plan or through building a stadium first.

And i know the reaction will be "how do you pay for coaches for your training."

Well I paid for coaches by operating at a slight loss for a while and then selling a player.

I did not improve my stadium until i had quite a good team, good enough to get me to A-league (i'm actually worse now if you look at my team from a skills point of view than i was before i built my stadium about 2 months ago). And if i had spent money on the stadium i would not have been able to do as well with player training (wouldn't have gotten nearly as good trainees if i had had 200-300k less to spend early on them). That being said, i had to make very good player choices to have been successful with this strategy.

So my point is, stadium building is one way to go, focusing on players is another.

Frankly, I did both. I waited until my original stadium was selling out, and as I got better I did one massive increase to it. When that starts selling out, I'll do another.
