Dmann, i think the people are suggesting that he get a mentor because a mentor would be more helpful than 1-2 brief responses in this thread.

I know when i have a mentee i run over all aspects of the game and make sure the newb understands the nuances, much more effectively than answering a post in a thread. Also, i know what to tell the mentee based on their team and based on my knowledge of what is complex in the game, again more helpful than just answering what the player is having trouble with.

Plus, the guy asked for help in winning a match. That's not exactly help that can be given on a thread in the first place.

I don't think i see many questions at all on this or the newb forum that aren't answered effectively. "How can i beat a team" is a conversation, not something that can be answered without better insight into the team skills than can be available on a forum post.

.(I am not suggesting that the Mentor program is a bad thing)

Wow, I would think after a full season of sokker and even promoting that you'd have figured out the basics by now.

Is dumb stuff like the above justified??

Dmann:

I'm one of the mentors and I help my mentees so much that I think other newbies without a mentor don't stand a chance.

This is why I'm trying to promote the mentor program. I'm only trying to help, I'm actually too anxious to help and came off wrong, I'm sorry.

Also: If it was a human team asking about a bot team, I would help him on the forum. But the game is between two human teams.

Maybe I should of posted under a diffrent Thread. My complaints are not entirely based on this particular thread but on a more general atmosphere within the forum. Kuddos to you Lakay for helping the newer members

The forums are a place for general advice. I try to answer what I know, and don't answer what I don't know. Just with any group discussion, there are all kinds of personalities involved. And the answers to any questions will depend on the person.

Frankly, some people on the boards have no clue, and some have great advice (you get to pick which category yours truly falls in... :).

The best way to succeed here is to develop a plan and stick to it, and the best source of advice is going to be one-on-one from someone that knows all the details of your team (finances, the exact stats of your players, that sort of thing).

A mentor is really the only place to get that kind of in depth advice. Everything else on these boards HAS to be taken with a grain of salt.

Well dmann, the sarcastic there like the one you quoted are from a guy who's been here a whole 2 weeks and from a brit, and we all know how pompous THEY are (LOL, if you take that seriously the-brits-who-read-this-thread, get a sense of humoUr (even spelled humor your way there :)).

In the thread you grabbed those quotes from, the question was answered at pretty good length, actually, by a few people who do try to help.

Plus, this is a game, people post things in good humor (like my brit comment above) and try to have fun, i don't think anyone meant to be mean to the newbs.

I disagree a little bit. The majority of the guys here are mellow and ready to respond. What you're saying doesn't really reflect the current state of this section, seems you're just basing it on that one post out of line that you saw.

I agree with the point about not immediately saying to get a mentor and thus avoiding the question, but that's my impression of the people around and I've been here for a little bit.
