If the Head Coach is in charge on primary and secondary pops, what’s the use of having a good coach? Isn’t it a waste of money?
2006-07-30 19:14:41
I (think) assistants factor into secondary pops just as much.

Assistants help the head coach. Only their general appraisal counts. So if you have a head coach with unearthly in whatever you're training and a bunch of other formidibles, but no assistant coaches, your training wouldn't be nearly as effective in either the trained stat or your random pops as if you had 3 nice assistants.

So I go after good/solid Asst coachs right off the bat, try to get 'em cheap, but it really doesn't matter there specialties just overall ability?

also one more noob related question about training. Only the players in the POS trained gain the extra boost from the specific skill that is getting trained?

I believe this is what I am told, so therefore you play a 3-5-2 everygame so you get the maximum training?

Yep, this is what I told you last week :)

Same goes for your junior coach.

The only coach that matters specialty wise is the HC.

You get optimal training in the position you specify (att, mid, def, gk).

That optimal training comes in matches - both league and friendly (although there is an oh so slight advantage to league match training vs friendly match training).

So if you were to run a 3-5-2 for both friendly and leaguematches on a given week, and you were training say passing for your midfielders...you could get up to 10 players optimal passing training that week.

Hope that was worded okay.

I don't understand then why anyone would then use any formation other than the 3-5-2? If the understanding that we share about training is correct Islander, people would always play at least a 3-5-2 in friendlies.

Does everyone get training on Stamina and Pace?

Also I'm looking at the Assistant and it appears players are gaining % in values that they "weren't" training in, what gives.

I've done quite well with 5-2-3, thank you very much.... :)

everyone gets training on stamina.

Pace I just learned goes to everyone that PLAYS...position still regardless.

So you can get up to 22 players full pace training.

As to your other question, I think there are better managers who can answer that best.

Attribute the percentage gain to the general training that players get every week. Players receive what you elect to train, and then they receive a random general training in other skills.

sorry thats wrong, from the rules...

A player who played in the same position (ie, as a def) twice during the week will train better than one who played in only one game. Similarly, a player who played in an official match will train better than one who just played in a friendly. If a player played in two different positions during the week, the last match counts. The benefit of playing a player with the same match order twice is small - they will receive near full training by playing 1 match. If they play only in an international, they will receive around 33% of the normal training. Players do not receive training in extra time as they are too tired.

The differences in training effectiveness resulting from player’s appearances during the week are small. A player who played in one friendly only, will have only slightly less effective training than the one from the first team line-up. The difference is even smaller for a player that played in two games instead of just one.

Someone would choose something other than 3-5-2 if they want to train something that's trained by positions best other then midfielder. Ie def, stri, gk, pace (trained equally by all positions).

The rules page is actually quite good around how the training stuff works by position...

Everyone who plays gets training in pace (based on minutes played in league/friendly/Cup/NT, two games is only slightly better than one), everyone on the team gets training in stam (doesn't matter if they played)

reminder:
dont try to just label 10 of your players as mids or whatever at a time in the same game. Its 5 spots per game max for mid/def, and 3 a game for att, making a total of 10 possible spots of training in mid, and 6 attackers with a full set of trainees. If you try to do more your team will lose training for the week.

suggestion:
read the rules, many of the answers to these questions can be found in there, its what theyre for
