Subject: [U21] World Cup

Today was the group draw for the U21 World Cup. We were drawn from the 3rd pot and will play against Poland, Germany and Mexico.
I think it's a very difficult group. Poland is the current U21 World Champion, Germany is the 9th team in the world and these two teams are the favorites to promote.
We and Mexico are of similar potential and we will fight for a surprise.
The first match (January 6, 2024) will be played against Mexico, the second (January 13, 2024) against Poland, and the third (January 20, 2023) against Germany.

We made a great start to the U21 World Cup. In the first match we won against Mexico U21 1:0. The goal for our team was scored in the 43rd minute by Jimmy Kay (FC Lawrence). We played a 4-1-3-2 tactic without a wing, because I knew that our opponent had changed to a narrow and short stadium before the match. If we hadn't won in the second part of the match, we would certainly have played more offensively, but we didn't have to use the second tactic. I'm happy with this win, because Mexico is a team with similar skills to us, but we were better than them on the pitch that day and won deservedly.
In our next match we will play against the current U21 World Champion, Poland U21, led by a very experienced and great manager Caballero-Negro, who is fighting for a third consecutive world title. I have never had the opportunity to play against such a titled team. I believe that our bald eagles will give their best and we will make a sensation.

Unfortunately, our key midfielder Orlando Baldwin, who was injured in a league match, will not play in the match against Poland U21.

On Saturday, we lost against current U21 World Champions Poland 0:1. We held the tie for 83 minutes and were close to scoring 1 point. We played a new tactic of 5-1-2-2, which worked very well. We created several goal scoring chances. However, our opponent was much better in quality. We didn't lose our chance to promote from the group, but in the last match we have to beat the favorites Germany. In the qualifiers we drew with them 2 times. I believe that this is a team that can be beaten.

Germany was the favorite in this match, but only a win would give us a chance to advance. We started the match with a 5-3-2 tactic, and the beginning of the match was great for us. In the 20.minute Foster Madden (Dinamo T) scored a goal after a pass from Callum Helmsley. In the 39th minute our opponents scored a goal for 1:1. In the second half of the match we switched to a more offensive 4-3-3 tactic, but the result of the match did not change. We fought with honor until the last minute and tied in a stronger opponent than us. We finished the World Cup U21 in 3rd place in the group with a balance of 1-1-1, goals 2:2.

We finished the U21 World Cup in 3rd place in the Group B. We won one match, drew one and lost one, the balance of goals: 2:2. With a bit of luck in the match against Poland or Germany we could have made a sensation and advanced, we really lacked little. I think we played a good tournament and look forward to the next one. In a few weeks we will play in the U20 Gold Cup.

We are in a difficult group. We will play against Argentina, who had the best record in the WCQ and won all their matches, and first we will play against the current world runner-up, Azerbaijan. These will be very interesting matches.
