Subject: Friendly Cup Gate Receipts

2006-09-08 01:45:53
I was under the impression that friendly gates were split.
I didn't get anything for the friendly cup match yesterday.
Clarification needed.

It is like in the league: if you play a friendly away with league rules , you don't get anything and if you play home you get the full amount. If you play the friendly game with cup rules you split the amount, no matter where you play.

It seems that in friendlies league every game is in league rules!!

Had I known that in advance, I might not have signed up for a friendly league, as I need all the gate income I can get to offset costs.

Oh well ... I'll just have to sell one of my good players to keep going this season.

1/2 of the games will be home dude.

I really think its poor that gate reciepts aren't split.

All this does, is promote teams that are broke to stay out of cups and accept only home matches against random opponents all season.

challenge teams high up in poland at their place, ull make more money that way cuz most of em only have seats

Wait...so you are saying that non-league friendly gate reciepts are split?

Whereas freindly league gate recepits are not?

If so, that makes even less sense then what I originally thought. Why change the existing gate receipt sharing system for friendlies just because you're in a friendly league?

My exact point in raising the question, islander1 !!

I have always played home matches for friendlies, unless the opponent has a larger arena.

As I said, I would have been hesitant to play in a friendly cup [with my B-team, mind you] had I known about the gate.

Guacamole ... half at home is a problem when you need the funds EVERY week.

Yeah, it won't stop me from running HA friendly cups in the future....but that being said, it is really lame.

granted, it more or less works out to be even....but compared to a person who's dedicated to just playing good teams in big arenas...it doesn't work out at all.

If Sokker is smart, it'll make friendly cups work the same as non-friendly matches. They should be promoting friendly cup playing as much as possible...as teams that participate in friendly cups I'm willing to bet have more motivation to be active in the management of their team.

Guys, unless you are about to go bankrupt, I am not really sure what the difference is? If you get 1/2 the receipts every week or the full amonut every two weeks, what is the difference? Your assumption in playing in the friendly cup was a steady stream of revenue, and you are getting it. There is no difference.

I totally agree with you.

This is a "Sky is Falling" issue IMO.

If you are relying on that $6k, you need to rethink your strategy financially.... I think you need another mentor. Of course, given who HIS mentor is (Guacadork), I'm not surprised at the problems.... :)

Funny, thing is, he's good enough to not only own you himself, but teach me enough to own your mentee as well.

I really don't understand. Friendly game is split. Friendly league isn't split but you have 50% of it because you get all of the home games.
2006-09-08 16:07:36
The difference is in stadium size.

Keep in mind I'm arguing just philosophically at this point, because I don't have hard numbers first hand.

However, its common sense to assume that a poor team could make more money splitting friendly money with an upper tier team then taking 7 home games in a small stadium.

Moreover, why would SK even go to the trouble of re-inventing the wheel for friendly cups to begin with?
