Subject: Friendly Cup Gate Receipts

2006-09-09 01:01:16
Your gate is affected by how popular you and your opponent are. Actually, I think it is more realistic than HA that way - no professional sports teams (other than a few baseball teams) juggle their prices from game to game (at least until the playoffs).

If you keep doing well, you'll fill your stadium. I've been reading that a 2-1 ratio benches to seats is probably close the the right amount, although erring closer to 1-1 is better because bench people will sometimes buy seats.

jon - who juggles their ticket prices from game to game in HA?

I don't.

Maybe if i have 100% scouting then I might though :)

You can if you want. Are you saying that I shouldn't use the scouted amount each time.... Argh. No wonder my attendance jumps all over the place.

That's exactly what I'm saying.

Figure out yourself what you can sell out at, reliably, then stick with it...(assuming you dont gain/lose atr players)

In HA, Selling out is NOT the best option.

Remember that gate receipts equals ticket price X number of spectators.

This is a hyperbolic function .. and the maximum value is almost NEVER at sellout, as increasing the ticket price by 1 and decreasing the attendance by 1 is sometimes MORE than at sellout.

Play around with the figures and you will see what I mean.

I know this is the case, but I'm not so sure its worth risking crossing the imaginary line between 'uber' profits and garbage.

There's a dropoff and it's very steep on ticket prices/spectator attendance.

You can get quite close with optimized ticket sales that cause a sellout.

Also, there are possibilities where one match you COULD sell out at say 1150 (instead of 1100 but then the next opponent the optimal price is say 1050- so when you put 1150 (because the scouting sucks and you did 1150 the previous match) you end up, this time, with only 40% attendance.

Whereas if you use the safe value of 1100 in my case, you sell out both matches and net 15.5 million stress free.
