I CAN'T FIGURE OUT WHY I CAN'T WIN!!!! I have the #2 team in all of A-league in average scores this season, and only have 8 friggin goals. Sigh. Well, with another season training YOUNG PM's, maybe I can get even further up....

If I were training midfielders, I would focus on secondaries. My focus would be on technique and (for wingers and DIM's) pace.

The midfielders I want to buy:

Wingers: formidable pace, solid/excellent tech, good defense, excellent PM, good passing

OIM: solid pace, formidable tech, good defense, formidable PM, very good passing

DIM: formidable pace, solid tech, formidable defense, solid PM, solid passing.

I do a fair bit of pace randomly, but I'm going to have to do a bit more tech than I planned, I think. I don't mind - that will help my "Nanook's strikers suck" problem, too. My main coach is unearthly in everything but keeper and stamina, so switching around isn't much of a problem. After next season, my PM's will all be better than the stats you mentioned, and they'll all be 21 or younger....

Well, with those skill sets, you should be able to set up your tactic to put balls in the net. For instance, with fast DIM's in a 3-5-2, you can have them supporting the wingers without using wingbacks.

You have to develop or buy players that are capable of doing what you want them to do, or you have to setup a tactic that minimizes your players' weaknesses. My players are nothing special, but they are well suited for what I want them to do.

My OIM... he's got no skills higher than solid, but all I want him to do is keep me competitive in the middle of the field with defense and keep the ball in the attacking half.

My DIM... again, no skills higher than solid (he's got very good striker, as a result of being on my team for a while, but it's not something he uses except on free kicks), and his technique is hopeless. But since most of his ballhandling occurs in my half, he gets rid of the ball pretty quickly, limiting the damage from his low technique.

My wingers are my pride and joy, but even they aren't anything special. They're just always open, and fast, so they move the ball up the field pretty well. The other thing I think people do which limits the effectiveness of wingers in positioning them too far inside... they'll shoot instead of pass at the corner of the penalty box, but they'll pass instead of shoot at the corner flag.

Come on. You need the $$ to be able to win in our series. It isn't like you need the goals, what with your superior tactical skills. That $250k will do wonders for your team, despite the minimal reduction in skill from the loss of your NT striker.

I am seriously considering dropping my offer to $225k or so - I don't want to help you THAT much....

Hmm. In that vein, jonandabby, i have a crappy b-team striker backup for sale who's worth about 5k. Since my tactical skills are relatively lacking, what do you think is fair, 500K for him so i can compensate?
