Is the game played on Saturday the 28th. Maybe he thinks that English peoples nervous systems are so slow that it takes them a full day to react to saddness?

It isn't that they are slow. It is that they are added with beer most of the time, and can't find their watches/calendars/a$$holes. They get easily confused, you see.
