Subject: Home matches

Could be something like if you play home your players got extra 10% skills bonus (or you if you play away your players skills are 10% less effective)

Maybe just give home team players a +1 to all skills?

Then there is no way that the away team can win if it's +1 for all skills. I like the 10%(might still be excessive, more like 5%) rule but it would make sense if the increased happened on your side of the field.

A superior team will still win most of the time.

Playing on the road is supposed to be hard. Right now, it's irrelevant.

Plus 1 to all skills would likely mean a 10 point individual ratings boost. That's a big deal.

individual ratings are garbage.

Good tactics beats superior players imo.

I'll prove it...eventually when the opportunity permits in a couple seasons.

They aren't "garbage." They certainly don't tell you everything there is to know about a player, but they do tell you some things. And I don't care how great a tactician you think you are, I doubt you could beat a team that had a 10 point average individual rating advantage over you.

well why don't you just challenge kats to a friendly where he playes "turtle" or some very bad tactic and you play your best one and we'll see who wins?

Then again, shouldn't winning matches on the road be difficult? They are in international soccer...

personally, i think it should be a form boost. That way they utilize their skills better, and stick to the formation.

you know - thats not a bad idea either...if it's pretty signifigant.

It should be more difficult for a road team to beat a home team.

To make it more interesting, they could implement a range for the bonus. So it is possible that my team will get a 10% advantage cause they are at home, but maybe it will only be 1% today because it is raining and the crowd isnt into the game. Or maybe they could implement a "momentum" feature to go with the home field advantage. At the start of the match the momentum is in favor of the home team, but if they play like pure garbage the fans start booing and the advantage disappears.

I guess there are a million and one ways to implement a home field advantage in an online soccer sim.

I think Starsfan is on the right track. Giving a small form boost to the home team sounds appropriate.
