Don't get me wrong, if I somehow magically come into crazy money and I can actually finsih first next season, then I will. I figure this team as is, is good for at worst 3rd in whatevr B league next season.
But I seriously doubt I'll have much money coming in next season....so I'm not going to kill myself to promote to A with a subpar team that, even with good tactics, is going to finish in 6th.

I don't know... I promoted to A in 2 seasons, and i'm doing fine.
how much income did you get from player sales?
I am very doubtful that I'll have anywhere near enough money coming in next season to reconcile promoting.
Why? because I opted to improve my team's performance this season with my training, instead of improving their immediate sellability.
Mistake? Maybe. I've got no regrets though. My record this season and goal differential speak for itself.

I came close to promoting in my second full season in sokker, first in B league, and I think I would be fine financially in A league by mid-season, once I sold a couple of trainees.
I'm in B10, Ranked #2 in B all season.
I don't know if i'm promoting or not, I don't have enough points to auto promote and dont know who my qualifier would be against.
Once I see who I would play I could scout the league and determine if I could compete or not. And thats IF I can beat my opponent.

Heh. Take it out on me. He got unlucky - his #2 PM didn't play, and things went downhill from there.
It wasn't unlucky, I watched that game. It was pure tactical stupidity.
Which, yes, I blame on you. He (and you) clearly didn't learn your lesson from how I beat him last match.
Calcio's team is mediocre at best. I proved that, by dropping 5 goals on him in the first 45 minutes of our match the week before. If your boy's tactics were intelligent, he would have won 3-1 and would be getting ready for a promotion match next week.
As an aside, this is exactly why I dislike the positioning skill in testing. Because smart tactics can override better players. Even without your #2 PM, Skyscraper's team was easily better then Calcio's.
The positioning skill seems to override good tactics with randomness.
Thats actually the one thing I worry about with my match against temo - because it'll be used with the 'new' engine.

Actually Temo, this really sucks, but I don't think we can play now.
Reason being is apparently week 0 (the one in the new season, but before you have a league match) is week 1 of the National Cup - which of course we'll both be in.
I can't play next week because I'm still hamstrung in friendly league play. I'd forfeit out of it that last week if it were possible.
I just never thought or imagined when I created it that double leg would be an inconvenience. Seems like we only have one true friendly 'down' week each season in sokker...
Disappointing, I'd really have liked to play you..your 5 defense formation was going to be a unique challenge to game plan for :(
