Subject: Am I too hopeful with my YS?
I keep 5 free spots for my Junior team, because i barely had 6 juniors joining in the past, and still i don't have 5 new juniors every week!!!
this week i had 4, kept one, last week i had 1, fired, week before i had 3, 2 fired.
^_^

When I was in a C-League, the best I could get was 3 per turn, regardless of whether I pounded a bot or a team with an actual manager.
Now that I'm in a B-League (of course, I had some cash strapped weeks, so I didn't open any more slots to my club)...
If you get a result you're expected to, you get 3-4 youths. If you get a bad result (lose or tie to someone weaker than you)...or if you lose in general, you get 1 youth. Go on a win streak or upset some teams (in my case, I got a draw against a previously unblemished opponent, then beat a team with better stats), I got 5 youths.
Don't waste the money on 6 spots unless you're winning a bunch in an A-League (my B-League is the 4th or 5th best B-League,depending on the week).
If you lose, even if you keep the score close to a team that should pound you, you only get 1 youth.
I still think if you have an open slot and no one takes it, you should get at least half your money back.
The only week I've ever gotten all 6 youths was the first week of my youth squad, probably because they needed to fill it.
Here's my current youth squad:
Arnold Butler outstanding 1 Reject
Ike Vaughn solid 3 Reject
Beau Garrett formidable 4 Reject
Stephen Dunst solid 6 Reject
Bob Garlick average 8 Reject
Raymond Zesdorn solid 12 Reject
Jared Gonzalez adequate 22 Reject
Abraham Donovan adequate 26 Reject
Constantine Broome average 27 Reject
Sid Corrales adequate 28 Reject
Lex Gallatin average 30 Reject

that's not true... i got 6 youths after the loss last weak in my league... I also had 1 youth after winning for 8 straight matches...
you are so wrong!
you are so wrong!
Not entirely.
You are in league 3 of 6 in your country. I am in league 3 of 4 in my country. You had a 1 goal loss to a pretty unstoppable team in your league the week you got 6 players. By default, your league is more impressive than mine, which according to the rules, makes your team more likely to attract youth players.
As for the 1 youth after winning for 8 straight matches, what did you get the other 7 weeks? Who were you playing against? What level of opponent were they? Was this during the current season? Was it way back when you started and played against bots?
You are talking about anomalies and I'm going by what I see as a general pattern. For a new manager, I really don't see the point in wasting the money each week, when you're not going to get 6 each week, probably not even 4.
In my first season, I certainly didn't make enough money each week to keep 6 spots that were never going to be filled. If there's a new team that can afford to do it, great. I'm just trying to be realistic.
I'll admit, I didn't say "on average" or "in my experience." If someone took my word as set in stone, well, they shouldn't be so literal. Obviously I didn't create the game, so I can't say for certain, but the levels I listed happened on a consistent basis for my team.

I always keep 6 slots open. And this week I got 6 new players... sacked them all except for a Good with 33 weeks to go. Heh. Leaving it at 5 though, because I have 1 guy coming out this week.

Edit> Let me add, I lost my game last week against a lower team in my series.
Edit> And readd, I've gotten 6 youths multiple times, including my first season when I wasn't very good.

When do players come out of the youth squad? after a certain amount of weeks, or is it random?
They count down every week. They'll come out on a Thursday when they drop down from 1 to 0.
