Anyone else feel like their 'new engine' matches look more like ping pong then soccer?
I'm convinced that my team completed considerably more passes in the old engine then the new. I've also observed this phenomena in a couple of A league friendlies I've taken the time to watch.
In fact, there are soo many passes, even short ones, that bounce off players I was actually cheering for my passes to hit the other team's defenders instead so I could get the loose ball and score.
I mean, that's sad. It worked too, twice. Almost made up for the other 20 completed passes that magically bounced off of my players and into the defenders possession and quickly kicked out of the zone.
Don't pull the 'you need more tech card' either - I'm taking a direct comparison to matches with the old engine and new one this very year - with most if not all the same players in the same positions in the lineup.
My completed pass rate in old engines is 35-40%, in these new engine friendlies they are seriously 15-20%.

Islander.... Sheesh you're like my wife with your emotions some days, lol.
Again i'll mention to you that i don't believe ANYTHING about this was changed in this version of the engine.
I've had games like that too with the old engine. In fact, i'm sure you've seen my games like that too.
People always do this with the new engines i've seen here, blame everything even that didn't change on the new engine.

I don't think it's necessarily the completion rate drops, as much as there is more passing. I mean I'm noticing alot more fumbled passes then previously. Players with good technique getting passes from players with solid passing are fumbling 75% of the time. However, I've also noticed alot more passing going on. I've even had a couple striker-striker crosses in the new engine.
I'd like to see that change a little bit. I mean not to the point where we're all playing like the Ekstraklasa, but definitely something a little more realistic. The devs seem to be making a push for realism, yet the passing is far from it. Not everybody is as skilled, obviously, but passing and receiving passes is a fundamental that's taught to 5-year-olds. If a player (namely my striker that I don't think caught a single pass in my friendly) doesn't have the skill to bring the ball down and take control of it, at least have him let the ball go past him so that he can catch up and take the loose ball (on through-passes, anyway).

I wasn't paying attention a lot, but I didn't have a lot of trouble controlling passes. Of course, my strikers all have very good (or better) technique.
yeah well, most everything about this new engine is really pi**ing me off. What can I say.
I think the new animations (like stopping the ball with your chest) may be causing this.
starsfan: there might be more passing (volume) going on.

If they could change the part where your player and an opposing player fight for a ball and your player stops for 5 minutes, that would be great.
I'm going to be training technique after the cup, so hopefully that will help a little bit.
I'm not going to really be able to do so until the following season.
Still, in the end it shoudln't matter. I shouldn't see an obvious difference in pass reception issues between by last three sunday matches and wednesday matches - according to Greg and the admin staff. I'm certainly not saying it's intentional...
