First game of group play today ended in our favor; it was a narrow 1-0 victory over Slovensko.
I expect all of our games to be exactly like this one. Every team in our group is of equal, if not slightly higher caliber.
Both stokes and pickens were in mid-form today, and their performance showed it. Beasley and Warren aren't getting the job done really either, and playing lochrie in their stead is infuriating; he's a complete double edged sword.
But enough with the naysaying. Huge result today, i'll drink to that!

Very nice game. 5 - 2 shots for them, and one of ours went in.
As tough as this match was, if you had USA wingers like Gesior and the other guy you would win that game 3:0.

Coburn distributed well on the wing, meola and jaso stood strong in the middle well. I'm excited to say that we have had a recent rush of about four 19-20yo defenders that have ascended through the ranks, the two future wing backs are actually owned by the same player, and barndog has a pair of his own competing for spots in the middle.
Up top were in good shape with Jamal Patterson getting stronger every week, soon to be 3rd string when pickens and stokes are out of form.
I'm a bit worried about the middle though. Bradley Ritch is young and looking strong, Taylor is alright, but hopefully last weeks couple of nice mid prospect pulls will come through. I'll be training a new set of mids for my personal use starting the end of this season, hopefully my incredible will be a mid, or I can find a decent USA youth on the market, and pitch in myself

As someone who just played barndog in the Cup this season, I can say that I was really impressed with his defenders. I had guys with formidable/very good technique, and his d-men took it away from them pretty much every time.
The fact that they're being considered for (or are already on) the NT team makes me feel a little better about getting smoked in the Cup.
