Subject: Promoting Sokker...
I take it you got the fever...
I never go to NON-HT (USA), but I did to see the thread you mentioned. Essentially, half of the posts have been deleted, so I can't even read the supposedly offensive material.
But I can tell you must have slightly enjoyed going back and forth with a Brit-twit.

Yeah it's rather scary to see.

Hmmm, shouldn't it be Emperor FryDog in his case?

I got my Sokker team about 2.5 months ago, and my HT team in December of 2005. I am not hooked on either one and will not have any problem letting one go down the drain.
One of them will have to go though, probably around the end of this season, and at this moment things are not looking good for Sokker. Not because I think HT is better, but because there isn't much to do here and the only reason I am playing these games is to kill time at work when I am idle but don't have enough time to leave my office.

Yeah, there is definitally less to do/appealing nature of sokker vs. hattrick when it comes to 'killing time.'
I wish I had a nice skin for sokker, and the defaults they offer plus the user-made skins I've seen on the global conferences aren't that good... those damn euros love to make club-themed skins... how about something that is simple, clean and a bit modern? That might be too tall of an order to ask for.

If I had to give up 1, it would be HT. But neither is going to happen.
because... ?
I get the idea that a lot of people here think HT is too simple and they get bored with it... but do they get bored by the lack of options? Or because they actually aren't THAT good at it, create a team, rise up, stall out, and then give up?
I don't think HT is as simple as most people are stating... the economics of the game is an obvious challenge, but you have to take all things into account. I think most users who try HT play based on too many assumptions, mistaking the apparent simplicity of the game and decoding it too literally.
Granted, I haven't played Sokker much... as you can probably tell... and with the apparent system of player development in this game, it really does seem like a lot of your club success is weighted on tactical decisions and the placement of players in a game (being a Soccer Coach, rather than a Soccer Club Owner/Manager).
With that, I suppose there are different choices for people who want different things, and in that, diversity is a good thing rather than one soccer manager game being better than another.
Though, I do have to give props to Hattrick for being easier to navigate and initially understand for a n00b or someone who knows nothing of soccer.
I for one, only got into Hattrick because of a Swede I knew online via a real time strategy game that we played... prior to that and only a few months of playing FIFA on my computer, I knew nothing of soccer and nor did it appeal to me - if I said the same for the present day, I'd be lying.

I've had, and am having success in HT. Maybe not as much as you. I'm in D III.15 right now, and trailing at halftime in my cup match. A couple season ago I knocked G Goon's (defending MLS champ at the time) out of the cup.
My reason is simple, the match veiwer I like watching my team develop. You can see how your training affects your team.

aka instant gratification on match viewing. I do have to say, I like the sokker match viewing feature... I just watched my club get SMOKED in the friendly game - boy were we terrible!
Similar to my HT friendly squad, my Sokker friendly squad is populated with unsold youth pulls and players I picked up from the transfer wire for $1. I've got one backup defender that was an original team member, an all-around backup with average everything that was an unsold youth pull, and my backup striker trainees... those are the only people on the friendly pitch that are worth a damn.
But don't you want certain players in certain positions, depending on what you're training, to actually be of some value for your wednesday matches?
