Ok, question for everybody.
In a post, Guacamole stated that he would want a 3-4 week popper youth that was 16-17.
Lakay stated in a post that he won't take any youths that will not be at least very good when they come out.
From experience, youths that spend around 8-10 weeks in the youth school will come out 16-17 years old. Of course, I will only keep the ones that popped at least twice in that time. But also, they will not be very good when they come out, most likely at the most solid. Lakay is saying he wouldn't keep a youth like that, I think. He didn't mention talent.
What would everyone else prefer.
A 3-4 week solid youth that will be 16-17 when they come out with really crappy stats, but can be trained really fast, or an incredible-magical youth with a 3-4 week popping pattern that will be 18, 19 and maybe even 20 years old?

I don't have an answer....only another question.
Are youths that are going to be in the squad for 20+weeks guaranteed of being 18 or older??
has anyone had a youth that was in the squad along time come out 16 or 17?
I personally hadn't but haven't been playing too long either......just curious.

I had 17 YO coming out with more than 20 weeks in the school, and talented too but normally it happened toward the end of season.
I don't think there's a particular rule to follow about Junior scool, i think is more what do you want it to be. I invest as much as i can in the Junior school and i'm proud of my players: my trainees are all from my Junior school, some are over the hill, some are OK, some are mediocre.
Lakay likes quality and Guacamole prefer talent are just 2 way to attack the game.
^_^ my 2 cents

If I knew for a fact that a 16yo had 3 week talent then I would prefer the crappy 16 yo over the better 18 yo. Because by the time that 16yo is 18, he will be better than what the 18 yo is. And a 16 yo with totally crap ratings will sale for cheap.
Lakay also talked about newbies not being able to risk it on a young player, this is what he was referring to.
If you can get a phenominally talented youngster it's better than an older better player, even with the same talent.
The best possible player in sokker would have the ultimate talent (3???) and be trained by perfect coaches, and would be pulled at 16 during the first week after age update as a solid.
Of course, how would you know he would have the talent unless he pops twice at least. There's the "risk", you have someone show up with 10 weeks in the beginning of the season and he's like adequate or good, you could keep him and pay the 10k, in case he's really talented, and end up with him popping once.

Clarification:
I would keep A potential 16 yo with 3 weeks talent expected to come out "solid" (very rare and precious).
I'm always looking for that talented 16 yo with good skill distribution.
Some teams want to incure the cost/risk of keeping solids and eventually gets paid but new teams don't have the finances to gamble on "solids". They will lose $ faster than they can make it.

When I eventually switch back to pace training. I will likely pick up several 16 yos and take a chance that they are talented. I did so last time and ended up with one guy that will pay off pretty good. He is not a 3 week talent, but has done well.
I've got a 3.5 week talent coming in 5 weeks (excellent +1 or 2). He has been in my school 10 weeks(6 or 7 weeks with a formidable youth coach).
Is he more likely to come out on the younger side?
