Subject: Cup Matches

2007-03-29 03:46:13
screw the trophy, seriously, all the Cup does is screw up training and friendly leagues.

It's completely idiotic to have a national cup on the same day as your friendly training day. I know, I know...Hattrick does it too. Who gives a crap, they're idiots too - and their game sucks.

Then again, half the people in this game don't train players anyway. Like my opponent tonight in round 3. Playing all starters wen he should be training others for future sale, or otherwise bettering his team. Its stupidity like that which likely got him demoted back to C league last month.

The single best change they could make to this game is moving the NC matches to a third day of the week. Then, maybe then, people might actually try.

Honestly, there's some serious strategy involved with the cup versus main league game...

I think that's part of the impressive nature of wining it while in the ML contending. KY used to train goaltenders to field a full team in both games and not lose training. And it seriously hurt his team imho.

Honestly, I feel its serious stupidity to sacrifice a league result for a national cup that just interferes with fun friendly leagues to begin with.

I don't know who I'm drawing next week for an opponent, but I'll be of half a mind to throw it just to make sure the HA Cup starts on time. At the very worst I'll throw the following round so it can start in week 5

I'd much rather be in a fun friendly league then going an extra week in the NC and then playing random BS friendlies the rest of the season.

But that's just me. I'm sure not everyone agrees.

I'm still gonna be in it for a few weeks, islander... I like to try to win both till i play a quality team, it's a challenge.

Failed in the challenge last season tho.

See, I was ahead of the curve bowing out in round 1 :)

Wait! What? Its because my team sucks? Ahh, shoot :P

All the cup does is screw up training and friendly leagues? Do you even understand this game?

You have to pick and choose which of your trainees you're going to play in league and which in cup. It's a tradeoff. As for screwing up friendly leagues, are you serious? Cup matches generate more income. THe only thing friendly leagues are good for is training and not having to browse the friendly ads every week.

While I agree with a lot of what you say, did you really play HT long enough to really bash so much? I play both, enjoy both, each has pluses and minuses. While this game is much better tactically, there is a much more lively HT community (especially international interaction) and the website is more functional than SK.

Unless you have played it for a couple of years, I really think you need to stop bashing it!!!

As for playing more games in a week in addition to the cup, now that made your post useful ;)

Playing more games a week means more trained players, flooding the market. Hattrick has already shown that training players for profit is basically a Ponzi scheme, do you really want to hasten market deflation in Sokker?

I've never missed training while in the cup and I won it twice.

Past two seasons my trainees were to young to win it. This season I started a new generation pf trainees. The goal was to get all USA trainees.

I agree. Going far in the cup doesn't have to mean sacrificing training. I had decided earlier in the season that if I had a chance to go far in the cup, I would train stamina if I thought my trainees couldn't handle either the leage or cup game ( I have plenty of players that need it). Unfortunately, a very good defensive squad today took that decision away from me.

In addition, the conditional orders give people the option of making substitutions depending on match conditions, which still affords a degree of training for the substituted player.

personally I think that more memorable is the final of US cup then the play in ML..., really, the cup winner is someone who sometimes has to sacrifice training, players health and league game results to get the trophy, an he is undisputed No 1 - that's obviously nice and only losers can deny it

a) you obviously don't play in a fun friendly league

b) pick and choose which trainees based on an inconsequential Cup, versus league play?

do I understand the game? Let's see. 1 loss, by one goal, in about 35 league matches so far in my career.

Yeah, I think I understand this game. Can't say I've ever lost 17-2 either.

LOL, and this coming from a guy who couldn't even beat a B league team with a 1-1 record.

edit: I could see, perhaps, an ML level team doing it, simply because they'd have so much money to blow on great trainees (or time to accumulate their own out of YS)

fla21667: I could give two craps for community in an online soccer game.

I care about content and game quality , plain and simple.

Why would I want to spend two years of my life playing a half-assed soccer sim that has no legitimate tactical management, and not even a match engine half as good as this one?

No, only mis-informed people join Hattrick now, and gluttons for punishment, with YEARS invested in the game already, stick around in it.

in the end though, how much trouble is it seriously to just run the Cup matches at the same time as the NT matches?
2007-03-29 06:06:50
I don't care about the trophy. I have full (albeit sucky) b-team of trainees and non-trainees. I just can't see risking an injury to a starter to try to win a Cup match against a b-team. Every week of training is precious for a trainee, and what could be dumber than losing my #1 striker or something for 3 weeks in a Cup match, thereby completely f&cking up any chance I have in league matches that matter much more for supporter spirit and overall finances?

I lost a national team player for 29 days during my cup loss. The injury got him kicked off the national team..... :(
